So, with my wife and I both looking to play factions next week, we just found that our old 1.6Ghz system just wasn't cutting it. So, we decided to upgrade.

New Specs:
Athlon 64 - 3500+
1GB DDR (1)
Integrated GeForce 6100 256MB (Shared)

Upon loading GW, I noticed that the terrain was nothing but squares. Even the game itself ran horrible compared to my older PC (specs below)

Old Specs:
P4 1.6 Ghz
364 MB SDRam
ATI 9600 (128MB)

I would assume that a faster/more powerful PC should run the game better. Any thoughts on that one?

BTW: I did end up returning that PC and getting a more powerful one....
Specs:
Athlon 64 - 3800+
1 GB DDR2
ATI x1600 (512MB) <= NOT INTEGRATED

This newer PC runs everything just fine.

Well integrated isn't actually that main problem.

GeForce 6100, dude, your old 9600 is better than 6100, lol.

your saying an ATI 9600 (128MB) is better than that 6100?

too bad they can't make it easy. But still.. with everything on the lowest settings, one would think the PC with more power should out perform

either way... thanks for the info

If you can, get a Mobo that uses PCI express. The g-cards are less expensive and for what youd pay for an AGP version 6800 Ultra, you can get a 7800GT in PCIE, plus most things are going to PCIE anyway. Man this sux being broke and needing to upgrade.

Nah, I have no need to go out and get a GeForce card. My ATI x1600 is just fine =p

more or less, this was just a quandry about why the rig I returned didn't work very well.
