I've got another ascended PC, so I wanted to see if I could just jump right into beating the doppleganger. After trying suggestions on here and failing, here is what I did.
In my skillbar, I put:
Iron Mist
Flare
Aura of Restoration
Backfire.
Stat wise, I cranked up domination magic and them put some in fire.
I equipped myself with a candycane axe and pepermint shield in case I went hand to hand. I cast Aura on myself first, then hit the last stone to go in to fight him. I then cast backfire on him, and he nailed me with Iron Mist, which is what I wanted. Then I pummeled him with flares.. and down he went.
The secret was to get him to hex you with iron mist. It makes you where you can barely move, but you are immune to everything but lightning. So, he can't hurt you. It wore off just as the last blow hit, and it took about 35 seconds for the whole fight.
E/Me 10 & killed doppleganger!

Its no big accomplishment, there are so many builds to beat mirror, but good interesting build and good job.

Yeah, wasn't no biggie. I tried beating him at level 5 but couldn't, so I went and grabbed some levels. I think a ranged weapon and iron mist could take him out at any level. Backfire helps, but likely isn't needed.
