I just wanted to ask the opinion on some people about this. Which do you think is a more useful offhand item, assuming that the wand used is Gordac's Needle:

Droks Collector Idol
energy +12 req 9 blood
improved recharge of blood spells 20%
improved cast time of blood spells 20%

or

Gordac's Hook Blood
energy +12 req 9 blood
blood magic +1 20%
improved recharge of blood spells 20%

From my understanding, there is more potential to increase damage using the collector idol than the hook blood, but I'm not quite completely sure on how the improved recharge of blood spells 20% mod interacts with the same mod on the wand

The thing is that if you're spiking, you do NOT want a 20% fast cast, but can definitely use the +1 chance.

If you're not using a sac heavy build, you could also go with the drok's crafter offhand: +1 blood (20% chance) +30 health

Because when you blood spike, it's supposed to be a big blood spike. But if your 20% casting speed kicks in you'll cast before all your fellow blood spikers and aware the other team of who they are spiking.

If your not in blood spike group at all, then the Droknar's Idol > Gordac's Hook Blood.

For a boon prot, I prefer the Hook Blood due to the fact that OoB's casting time isn't long enough to fret over anyway.

I prefer the Hook over the collectors offhand for general PvE play. The additional Recharge can make VG and Shadow Strike, semi-spamable, whereas Fast Cast helps...almost never.

In most attributes, I prefer fast recharge to +1, and +1 to fast cast.

I don't see why blood would be an exception.

And yes, the two 20% chances stack, although there's a little bit of doubt as to whether they stack to 40%, or to 36% (32% plus a 4% chance of 1/4 recharge time). (I think it's the latter.)
