ECTOS etc still worth anything in Factions?

Personally i've sold all my shards and ectos before theres a price crash. I hope to see a price crash so I can buy FoW armor for my characters and possibly good 15^50 fellblades and chaos axes because everyones addicted to these new Factions items and I can finally afford my dream weapons

The problem for me at least, is that there might be new dream weapons in Factions that will quickly make me forget about the old Prophecies weapons.

i have 500 ectos and 1.4m so i was thinking if i needed to sell my ectos n pick up nice items. but then again, wut if the weapons no longer worth well
in factions? lol i'd rather stick with ectos than weaps

everyone ll be after the new skins.. so except for the Crystalline/Dwarven/Sickle .. all the other prices should go down

The thing that's going to be worth a lot are Amber & Jades.

I highly doubt it. Amber and Jade will not only drop (we think) from monsters or be crafted from merchants, but it will be farmed through faction earned by completing quests and missions. For this reason alone, they will never reach the prices that of Ecto/Shards/Rubies/Sapphires. They will be just too easy to aquire. For the first week or two they may be pretty expensive, but as more and more people progress through the game their value will decrease drastically.

I think the big idea here - as expressed by an earlier poster - is that prices will be crazy for the first few weeks.

We've seen it on a small scale when a new green becomes part of the game. Or when the IDS started dropping. Prices are sky high for a while and then drop to sensible levels.

I plan to avoid making any major purchases for the first month or so. By doing that I may miss some early bargains but - based on the way the game economy has worked in the past - I'll save more than I lose.

Ectos? Really no one knows what will happen and - other than developers and a few others - won't know until Factions is out and running. But I do think that if ectos take a huge drop (I doubt that they will) shortly before Factions I'll be buying.

So some actually think that FoW armour becomes cheaper when Factions arrives...erhmm ...

I think it was Meant to be there as Gold Sink. So I wonder if the logical guess would be that Ectos & Shards won't drop from this point and their price remaines somewhat same.

Last thing we need is everyone buying FoW armor with only spending 100k of their money.

I HIGHLY doubt fow2-armor will require them too.

Would be nice if Anet had allowed more storage for gold. There are many of us that lose millions everytime the ecto market farts.

I remember reading Gailes logs somewher on here. Saying "Fow armor will still be FOW armor" ,Fow/UW will have more acess points and cantha will have Underground areas harder then prophecies underworld and fissure.

Thanks Parn. That's exactly what I thought. So, it's "safe" to "assume" Ecto and Shards will most likely drop even more. There are still many people hoarding Ecto (supply) thinking Rits and Sins will be wanting to get FoW armor, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen (no demand).

dudes.... fow2-armor will require fow2-materials. not amber & jade, not ectos and shards either.

there might be a new highend armor which is not as expansive as fow armor...

My theory is that ecto and shards will get more valued after faction , maybe not so much but a little. Since more and more will start to go over to faction (not that they will stop prophesy) they will start to focus on buying materials for faction armors. So people who want fissure armor in the future will have more pain in the butt since it will most likely be less people selling or gathering ectos and shards. But hey , I could be wrong

Maybe few ppl will go to fow or uw farming for ectos and shards after GWF release, but now many ppl have a lot of ectos and just store them because of full money storage, so they will also be big suppliers of ectos in GWF.

Besides, they don want to craft fow armor and just sell their ecto when their money is used in GWF.

Hard to raise price due to this.

Noooooo, it took me so long to save up ectos and shards for As and rit fissure armors , and now no fissure

i dont belive ecto's and shards affect Ritualists and Assassains will have armors in Tyria seeing as they are Canthan and the Forgemaster has nothing to do with Cantha. Ectos and shards will drop because not as many people will want them, i look forward to this because i like seeing Great depressions and inflation happening
