Rename Characters?

I was reading the code of conduct on the guild wars website and it said that if you give your character an innapropriate name, you won't be able to play that character until you rename it. I didn't know you could rename characters. Is this a new feature?

no, u send email to support, and they'll rename it for u

k thanks. so i just tell em the name and what I want the new name to be and they'll change it? is it just [email protected]?

it has to be reported as offensive
they have to agree it is offensive
then the account is locked
then you apply to change it

I tried to log on and it said my account was not authorized to play GW....I was in a 24 hour ban. At the end of the ban my character was still there with my same name. As I tried to log in with the character it said I cannot play this character again until I change the name....at that point there was a small box at the bottom of the info box for me to input another name.
It scared the hell out of me to see a red box appear after I tried to log in.

I would love to be able to change the name on a character, atleast on my warrior who is called Zaramoth Xceran. Apparantly that name is a name that is similar to a name uesd in some euopean country, ´cause more than once people has tried speaking to me in their native language, and my usuall response is: Que?

And a friend of mine uses the last name Komora on all his characters, just a name he came up with, he´d never heard it before. Then one time when he was in a random PUG team, one player asked him why his last name was door, which Komora apparantly means in some languege.

Yeah well after playing GW since day one and having completed large portions of the gave and then thinking that your account would get banned for a silly name, then yeah you would have crapped yourself too. In case you have never been banned, the first time sucks because they don't give you a heads up as to if your entire account would be banned or if you could keep everything. It was a very bad 24 hours for me.

So you can't just send an email to change your character's name if it isn't offensive or anything?

and before this they made you DELETE the character loot armor and all.

this is a favor to you considering the name was offensive to begin with.

If Arenanet let aybdy change their name anytime they wanted, a couple of things would happen.

1) the scammers would get away with more.
2) Arenanet would never get anything done except changing the names for players that have the attention span of gnats. and we all know that makes up a large numbe of bodies.

while it would be a nice favor for the occasional player who after months of play decided they just wanted to upgrade the name to represent being a more veteran character, it just can't be done unless it's done for everyone
