Allies and Enemies...

I'm one of those people that came from WoW (World of Warcraft) and I kinda miss it. Sure Guild Wars beats WoW in some ways but in others WoW has the advantage. One thing that was cool about WoW is that you could pick what faction you wanted to side with, Alliance or Horde, thats what made PvP fun in WoW, in the sense that when you went into Contested Territories, you had a sense that anyone of the opposing faction could come and attack you.
I think if Guild Wars had something like that, it would make PvP more fun. Basically, IMO Guild Wars have 3-4 factions you could join up with: Asacalon, the White Mantle, and the Shining Blade. I'm not sure of any other ones but if you have any ideas feel free to post them.
Now the dwarves would somewhat be like a neutral fraction, because we know they have a good relationship with the people of Asacalon, but I'm not so sure with the White Mantle.
If Anet decided to add this, I guess they should add another style of PvP to encourage this. Thats what I kinda hate about that everything is instanced, you lose the random encounter PvP. But I guess they could add an area to a city where its not instanced or something, and add things such as battles with the opposing faction, such as the White Mantle decided to attack Fort Ranik and you being part of the Asacalon faction, could defend it.
I dunno, comments welcomed.

Sir Skullcrasher
i agree, by letting people to choice which side they want to be for guild battle, it would be more fun.

It would also open up a lot of griefing opportunities, which is what WOW pvp seems to be based upon. :P I left SWG which was also full of griefing and its one of the things i love about GW the total lack of it.

So lets say the White Mantle only has so much time to succeed in taking over Fort Ranik, if they do Fort Ranik would reset and all people in the White Mantle partcipating in the raid would be sent to Lion's Arch or something and get some kind of reward.
But to prevent griefing, I would say if you attack someone who is like 4 levels below you, you lose faction points or something. I dunno.

If you want to get ganked like that, feel free to go back to WoW.

I do miss killing all the Horde noobies...but I can't say thats something I want to see in this game...it doesn't really fit...
While there are all these "factions" none of them are really fighting each other, and the ones that are, are well..."monsters." Charr fight Ascalon, when I walk out of Ascalon, I'm fighting Charr. Think of Guild Wars as a game where everybody is on the Alliance, and the Horde is what we fight everytime we walk outside. There are your factions, it would be hard to change what is already done into something else...

That is definately not something I miss from my days in WoW. I like the strategic, organized battles of GW much more.
