Dis Between Vanity and Normal Skin.
DeadedGoose
I was looking in the unidentified weapons and stuff area....
And there were two selections, Vanity, and normal...
It would help me plenty if anyone could explain the difference to me.
Thank you.

Nothing. Vanity just looks good and can be good. Normal items just are good. They usually look like crap though.
DeadedGoose
Eh, so its just looks? Thanks.

What I don't understand is that some people pay horrible sums for a gold item which has the same stats as the same collector item with the same skin. Or Droks weapons crafter.
Sekkira
Well if it looks the same, they're idiots. But you're not going to get something like the Droknar's Longsword with an actual Longsword skin if it's not gold.

I find it amusing that warrior, and ranger weapons have these long elaborate names when they are gold or even purple for that matter.
Mesmer and necro weapons, no matter how good, are called "Truncheon", "Cane", "Grim Cesta", etc. unless they are green of course.
When people are spamming their " I a wielding a Furious Battle Axe of Fortitude" on a run, I get to spam, "I am wielding a Truncheon and a Grim Cesta".

IIRC Truncheons don't have prefix/suffix mods. swords, axes, hammers, etc have prefix/suffix mods, so the weapon name format is "[prefix] [weapon type] [of [suffix]]".
if you notice, the warrior "wielding X and Y" doesn't show any other details on the shield, either, for the same reason.
you probably already knew all that, though, so...

It's common knowledge to any W/Mo that the Fiery Dragon Swords and Chaos Axes are the best of their kind by far.
Nah, it's just the rarity that makes them expensive. True players take collector's/crafter's weapons and off-hands!

And am I the only one who thinks Chaos Axes and Fellblades look like ass anyway?
eudas
No, Netcraft confirms: they do look like ass.

Omnidragon42
I use a victos axe and a chaos axe on my warrior
and HoD sword and green offhand for my monk
Ranger uses a mursaat hornbow
I got the money, why not spend it on making my characters look cool?

What else do you do with your money then after you've played a while? If I have 20k sitting in my bank and no "upgrades" to spend it on, then what the heck, i'll go buy a pretty new sword to replace my banged-up piece of crap looking sword. =D

Vanity weapons are just like every other weapon, but they have a much more rare skin. Whether or not they actually *look* better is a matter for debate, but they are much more valuable than other weapons with identical stats.

Just all about the looks.

Candy cane bow FTW. The only non-collectors bow I use is an Elswyth's recurve. Which costs tons less than the collector's+upgrades equivalent. 5:1 vamp and +30fortitude are stupidly expensive. I just need a flat bow version now...
