Im sure this has been mentioned before, but it's really begining to bug me...

I think that the rune drops should be changed.
When a blue drops, it should be minor, a purple should be major and a gold should be superior. It feels like I'm being duped when I pick up this gold armor and I get all excited then I use my ID kit on it then.... its major water magic

If a gold weapon drops, then it stays gold! Why can't runes be the same? Is it just me?

i got disapointed so many times i dont even farm ettins as much as used to... i expert-salvage the gold armor, looks like a warior rune

Gold armors are rare enough, having them pop out majors is just kinda depression acidly dripped on your joy at finding a rare armor.

I can see your point, but that gold major water magic is worth four times as much to the merchant as a purple major water magic. And that is the only value a major water magic has.

So ..... I would rather have the gold major.

Just looking at it from a different point of view

You know what I got from a gold armor last night? a Necromancer rune of Major Blood Magic.

The day before I got a Mesmer Rune of Major inspiration magic.

At least if it is purple you don't get your hopes up, you know?

But if it's a purple you may get lucky and get a MINOR rune. A lot of them are worth more than majors.

That would add less mystery to what you picked up. Not all gold weapons are 100% perfect, and runes shouldn't be either.

But a gold weapon drop is always a gold weapon, wether it is perfect or not... All I ask is that my gold piece of armor should remain gold once I've IDd it, without finding out its actually giving me something purple... ho hum....

Nah they know about it. It wasn't too long ago that there was a bug where you could get majors form blue armor and superiors form purple. They fixed that (damn you anet!) back to what it is now.

However I think that the rate at which sup runes drops should stay the same. Which means that if this goes through (and I see no reason why it shouldn't) we will see less gold armor drops.

If Anet fixes this you will no longer have the "ZOMG it's not a superior!" but what they would probably do is, instead of making all rares (gold colored) superiors they will make all majors purple. In other words, there won't be more superiors just fewer rares.

90% of the golds i have had drop were majors, really frustrating to pick up a gold and just know its gonna be a major.

Gold armors dont drop all too often as it is, so I dont mind them becoming rare/ more rare if they change the way the colour system is for it. It will make it more worthwhile and makes perfect sense to me... perhaps I'll email them about it and see what they say...

Yeah, this is signed, although I'd like to petition to improve my luck ingame also ^^; all I ever get is Super Mesmer runes.... I have no mesmer and the armor itself unsalvaged is actually worth more than you buy a super mesmer run from trader -_- all my hours and have yet to get a super vigor and absorp rune.

I, like the rest of you, have always found this extremely irritating. I also agree that the rate that superiors drop could stay the same, making gold armours very rare. That's fine. I'd rather be excited to get that gold armor and *know* that's it's a superior rune.
