Dark Priest - Much like a monk, but instead relying upon deities and dark powers to inflict suffering.
Attributes:
Dark Magic - Defensive line of spells, also containing buffs.
Pain Magic - Opposite of heals, can also be used to heal/protect by pain.
Pestilence - Increases the amount of, or strength of dark creatures to be summoned.
Deity Favor - Increased the amount of damage done by pain magic spells, as well as the effectiveness of dark magic
Dark Magic: Magic used for evasive actions, allowing the priest to become non-targetable for a certain amount of time. Examples include fog, vapor form, darkness, blinding spells (on a mass level), used to conceal his actions or protect him and others from harm. These types of spells usually have very fast cast time to prevent them from being interrupted. Also, containing some buffs for dark creatures, along with undead.
Pain Magic: Mostly used the same way heal spells are used by monks, with longer cast times (of course), to make it more fair. Also the Priest can cause pain to himself or an ally in small portions to heal another ally. Also, the ability to sacrifice part of an ally's life to create a specific ward against that ally's main profession. These wards are uninterruptable and are cast on the entire party, but in a case of being alone, he can sacrifice part of a foes life to create the same ward. Example: Sacrifice 10% of ally mesmer's life and create a ward against hexes, necros life for curses and hexes, ranger against piercing damage, warrior against physical, monk against holy, elementalist against elemental damage.
Pestilence: Ability to summon forth mass amounts of insects and other creatures that live in absence of light. Much like a MM Necro would, but not consuming the corpse, instead, creating a small portal above the fallen foe for the creatures to be released out of darkness. The insects would take the form of a swarming cloud, for each swarm that is attacking, you recieve -1 health degen. Insects cannot be attacked due to the large numbers in each swarm, unless by elemental AoE spells, or something similar. Among insects, the Priest is also able to summon other creatures of darkness to aid him that take on larger sizes, depending on the amount of attributes in pestilence. As a set back, dark creatures summoned through the portal are sensitive to holy damage, and take damage from being healed.
Deity favor: The amount of attribute points in this area contributes a type of bonus, much like divine favor for monks, to pain magic spells and the effectiveness of dark magic spells. Would also be nice if you could have your choice between 3 different deities for different bonuses.
(updated examples of skills)
Examples of spells:
Dark Spells –
Shadow aura – for the next 8…20 seconds target ally has a 50% chance to evade attacks.
Fog form – for the next 2…8 seconds the caster takes on the form of fog. During this time the caster is immune to physical/ranged attacks.
Vapor form – for the next 2…8 seconds the caster takes the form of vapor. During this time, all spells cast on target are reflected back to a random ally of the source of the spell. Foes that come into contact with this form are poisoned for 10 seconds
Darkness – for the next 10 seconds you are not able to be targeted by enemies, turning into a shadowy figure of darkness, foes that come into contact with you during this form suffer from blindness for 5-15 seconds.
Pain spells –
Agony – target foe writes in agony and suffers 10-45 damage
Stinging shards – target foe and adjacent foes are struck for 5-15 pain damage and begin bleeding for 8-16 seconds.
Ward of Shiva – sacrifice 10% of an ally’s health or your own and create a ward against that profession’s spells.
Heart failure – target foe’s heart stops, causing 15-64 pain damage, if attacking, target foe is knocked down and suffers from one of the following conditions: weakness, crippled, deep wound
Transfusion and group transfusion – sacrifice 20% of target other ally’s health and create a transfusion of +3…+8 health regeneration for you or all other members in the party.
Sacrificial bond – When ever target other ally takes damage you receive a portion of that amount of health lost.
Pestilence spells –
Swarm – summon forth a swarm of insects from a portal over the fallen to aid in battle. Each swarm does –1 health degen as damage to targets. Swarms cannot be attacked physically or by ranged weapons, but will take damage from AoE spells. Limited life span.
Spider portal – create a portal to summon 2 level 1-8 spiders which have ranged attacks that cause poison. (much like the spiders in magnuuma jungle)
Scarab portal – create a portal to summon 1 level 1-18 jade scarab to aid in battle. (jade scarabs would have the same abilities much like the ones in the desert)
As an added bonus, those weapons already in the game that use dark damage, have more meaning behind them.

So, kinda like a cross between monk and necro. Sounds interesting.

This isn't really a monk or a necro, there's different concepts to the magic this class uses. lol
I'm still trying to work on some specific skills that this class would use, so that's gonna take a little while.

its a good start..
the attribute seem to be unique enough.. but need further expansion to see how it would work.
Also look at the Warlock and Heretic and few other similar concept class for ideas...

i dont see the uniqueness of this.
i dont agree with hurting another player for ANY reason as it would piss me off.
we have minions, and deathly swarms... why do i want plagues
dark magic sounds a lot like shadow arts to me...
add some skills maybe id get it better

I think this class could turn out to be a good monk reversal.
Instead of orison of healing (+X life), dawn of wounding (-X life), instead of healing breeze (+X life regen), wounding afe(sp?) (-X life regen)
It would be a fun class but not really unique...

*updated skills*
I can see this character be kind of hard to play at first, but after gaining more levels and getting better skills, being more of a menace to all professions.

Ok first, "mist form" is already a skill (super-critical sorry). Second, this violates many basic mechanics Anet as set up. There is a reason you can't already sacrifice your ally's health. It's because they are other people. This concept is based like a single player game. Anoher basic mechanic is constant vulnurability. At any point in time, a single player can not be immune to any attacks. It defies everything. If you could use the Dark Spells you have described above, combined with a Mesmer secondary, and use the Elemental Resistance, or with a Monk secondary, and use Protective Spirit, then you would be invulnurable for a long time, which is exactly what would make PvPing suck. Third, these skills are unbelievably unbalanced. If the Swarms were immune to everything other than AoE, that makes like 20 things that can hurt it at all, which is very cheap. A way to balance this would be that for every hit they get they take on the same degen, and their degen has no limit, so they would die relatively fast. The spider and scarab portals the same. They would be so unbalanced they would be like summoned characters, with all of the scarabs' necromancer spells, and the spiders' poison and cripple, it would be terrible. One would have to find some way of making these relatively fair. Ward of Shiva is also insanely cheap. It makes you invulurable to an entire profession? Why not just get one character of each primary and all /Dp and just keep using that and Heal Partying? They would live forever.
Not to be mean at all, but you need to try again. It was a valiant effort and your post is very detailed (excluding energy costs, recharges, cast times), but you targeted the earth and hit pluto.
