Merging Factions with multiple Prophecies accounts?
Grammar
I have 2 Prophecies accounts, both of which I want to merge with Factions (and the preorder).
Am I correct im assuming I will need to preorder and purphase 2 Factions accounts to do so, one for each Prophecies account?
Or can I simply merge a single Factions Account with two Prophecies accounts and save myself $50?
I'm hearing from some people that the later may indeed be possible, but my inner cynic is declining to accept that as truth without verification.
Thanks a million in advance.

Hi,
We are very grateful for the coming option to buy character slots in summer 2006. But many of us already have already found another solution to the character/storage problems i.e. buying a second or a third account.
I think it is fair to all the loyal GW players who has supported Anet by buying more than one account (for you an extra income of course) that these players should get the most benefit.
The option to buy new character slots is for players with one single account an extremely good solution to solve the character slot problems and therefore again our gratitude, but those with more than one account have supported Anet the most and should be rewarded with a little bit better than a 'buying extra character slots' option, since they have enough character slots.
Therefore, I suggest that there should be an option to merge 2 accounts into a single larger one. I am aware of that is option has been discussed extensively in the forums, but again I want to stress that this option is very much desired among the players with more than one account.
How about a 'one-time' merging option (i.e. a merged account cannot merge again. Expension chapters are not considered merged!) for $10? Or just for free, since they already paid for the game twice.

this is one thing they have not been vague about.
primary accounts with separate email addreddes WILL NOT be merged period.

Rightly so considering the security concerns and logistics those concerns create.

The problem wasn't a lack of wanting to merge, so the willingness to do so but in the lack of technical abilities. Probably in the same fashion as why you can't merge a used factionaccount with a used prophecieaccount and therefore have to decide ahead of time to merge or not to merge.

It would be really great if we could but it doesnt look like its possible. I'm gonna hate to have to redo all my characters on my other account. But it will be better in the long run.

Could we trade in our old account for say 2 character slots please?
I don't care about the characters on my second account, they're mainly for farming purposes

I see the same people piping in with the same negativity here, trying to speak on behalf of ANet but at the same time not having a clue what is going on behind the scenes at ANet.
Making this VALID suggestion as something that MANY players would appreciate is simply to bring it to ANet's attention. ANet has always done what they can for their players. In fact, I've seen them do even more than has been requested and/or asked for.
Let ANet address this issue on their own after they've had time to fairly look at the situation that has been caused by the extra user slots that will be coming out this summer.
If the possibility for an account merge (coinciding with extra slot purchases) for an additional fee is a viable option, that is completely up to them.

I'd be happy with a different option which could be done in a secure way. I've got two accounts, but what I'd like to be able to do is buy some new slots on my main account and transfer my second account characters (who bring only their XP and inventory items with them) into them so that in future I can use a single account.
It'd be secure as you'd need the password to both accounts - let's face it, if someone's stolen your password they can delete characters anyway - along with being profitable for Anet. But most importantly it would reward those of us who have been dedicated enough to the game to buy two accounts by enabling us to fully take advantage of the new slots feature.
I understand why Anet wouldn't do themselves out of easy cash by getting people with two accounts to buy expansions twice, but this is something that would make them money and probably be cheaper for end users too.
