Day Of Tengu - Head Start Event

"Join us for the Guild Wars Factions Head Start Event, and participate in the exciting Day of the Tengu celebration!

As you know, the Head Start allows access to the lands of Cantha a full 24 hours before the game’s global release. During those hours, Cantha is hosting a special event—Day of the Tengu—where players celebrate the first anniversary of peace since the cessation of the Tengu Wars. But all is not peace and harmony even now, for the day’s events are threatened by a return of the vile Naga.

In Cantha, you are invited to complete a series of quests in honor of the Tengu, quests that also aid in the effort to beat back the erstwhile invading forces. If you are successful, you will earn Naga Fangs, which you can exchange for unique rewards! At periodic intervals throughout the course of the day's event, be sure that you visit Shing Jea Monastery, where you will find that, if you have a sufficient number of Naga Fangs, the fangs will be converted into wearable Tengu Masks. These coveted items—customized just for you—will be unique across all Guild Wars campaigns!"

sound like its gonna be fun and its only for people who preordered factions i carnt wait now.

I'm still scared that the head start event isn't showing up..only preorder weapons

Looks like I'll have to reschedule my biological clock.

According to GAile (4/22 chat), all characters with access to Cantha (PRe-Order Key) during the event can reach the Monastery. Prophecies or new cantha chars.

After that, the access to 'get back' to the Monastery will be removed.

With that, we have a 24-hour window to unlock and explore the Monastery area with our proph characters to gain the Title related to "Most Explored Canthan Player" title thing

So maybe, the new Cantha chars have to go to where the Tengu quests are then go back to the Monastery.

Atleast for our Ascalonian Characters, we now have a reason (and an incentive) to go backtrack to the lowbie areas of Canthan continent.

I'd suggest to call it a training ground, since the Monastery isn't in a "pre-time" period as Pre-Sear Ascalon is/was ^_^

Doesn't that mean you can't get "explorer of Tyria/Cantha" if you weren't "born" in that continent?

It certainly sounds interesting, but I wonder whether those quests are for level 20's only.. or the other way around: inaccessible to level 20's from Tyria?

ah. good one. (it would be funny/weird if they kept doing the "pre-sear" storyline for every chapter with the newly made characs.lol)

extra - o ye. they kinda did it too this time. from the cine. where the battle with Shiro was in the past, and the story is still in-effect. hope it isnt a constant pattern of "sins of the father etc etc" (similar) storyline effect for the next chapters.

ok for all of you who lives in the St.louis area around OverLand verry slim chance any of you do but just in case if you go down the rock road past north west plaza (the crappy mall) you will run into Best Buy I was thier yesterday and they just got a new shipment of preorder keys/boxes but for soem reason i didnt think about getting one O-o I feel kinnda stupid for that since I was thier to wast money any ways lol but any ways as soon as it opens im going to try to be the first oen though the doors and go strait to the pc games and nabb me one before thier all sold out.... IF any of you who is readin gthsi thread and do not have the pre order key yet get off you rump and go it it only 5 more days lol nothign liek last minute shoping to the rest of you good luck all i can say is check out evry Best Buy and Comp USA stores and evry little gameing store EB...gamestop ect... go hunt it down like a pack of wild wolfs if you dont see it ask if they have a coppy lol heck they might be to lazy to just restock the selfs you never know lol if the person you asked said no sorry we are out of stock ask another person ask about three other ppl who work thier and then ask the store manager he will most likly go look if the others haven't lol just go wild grow some hair on your back grow some fangs file your finger nails to a spiky point like claws and just attack attack attack don't go down with out a fight lol

Ugg, i bought from amazon and they don't know what the key code thing i need is, so i'm contacting the other custemer support, I don't really mind if i couldnt get a mask "tengu i hate espcially the mesmer ones " i just wanted to play on my assassin again


But, about the custom masks, if we only have one character slot available will we only be able to wear it on that character ( since we only have one character to do it on) since most holiday items are custom to that certian character?

I bought from Amazon and got my pre-order. You had to include it with your regular order of Factions. Did you do that?

well its not my fault people decided to order online now is it, i went into a store a month ago and picked up the key then and there.

I dont know why anyone would think they would get their key on time when the game ships after the headstart, they dont ship bonuses out early unless you pay more, and sicne its an online store, its more likely their stock of pre order packs would deplete alot faster then a normal store.

If people wanted to have this sooooo badly there would have walked into a store and bought it were its guaranted to be there

Pre-order stuff is on a first come, first serve basis. Anyone who ever bought a video game with a preorder bonus would know that.

I bought my game online, and they shipped me the pre-order first, costing me $10 extra to ship that AND the game when it is released.

I actually pre-ordered in 3 different places (1 online, 2 local retailers). I WANTED the preorder kit. I made it happen.

This actually gives those who got the preorder kit something more "useful" than the Assassin/Ritualist items. Well...maybe more fun, not useful is the word.

Is this US only? Not mentioned on the EU GW site yet

It's gonna be awesome I want the mask for my ritualist and maybe my warrior, luckily i got an extra slot baby, I think the times to get the mask will be on the same 3 hour basis as thw wintersday.

Now i can showoff that fact that i paid £50 for a game even more! Aside from that. Tengu masks are cool. I only have one problem. My characters are rapidly running out of inventory space, half of it is taken up with Candy Cane bows etc, Halloween and Christmas treats, and crazy head peices. Tengu Mask is just another to add to it. Also now 24hours of fun (on my first day back at college) will be a mad panic to kill enough Naga to get Masks for all my characters.

And what if you're in an area/country where they don't have pre-order kits in stores? Ever thought of that? Holland stores only announced a week or 2 ago that they were participating in the pre-order event. And I don't even know if you can get the pre-order kits seperately. Going to check monday.

What would you do? Order online when you can, or wait until the last minute to see if you can buy one in the shops. I think everyone'll choose the secure way. Including me, although I chose the wrong company to order it at.

yes, I did think of that, and guess what? If you live in that country then you should already have a good idea about whats the best way to go about it. You made a choice, and it turnd out to be a bad one
