thast 15 hours of my day, i dont play video games all day either. I probably will only be playing for 2 hours total cause its a week day, i dont go home and come to my computer and turn guild wars on.

Anyway, I bet two hours will be enough if that's all you focus on. Don't let yourself be distracted from things that aren't the mask (and will be there later) and you'll probably fine.
Alternatively, you MIGHT be able to just save up a lot of money and gold ahead of time and buy the items you need to turn in for the masks. The masks are obviously customized to the player, but maybe the collectible/quest items mentioned aren't.

If it makes you feel better, I took the day off, but now it's turned into the errand day from Hell: the dentist, the car in the shop, dropping and picking up my son from day school. I'll be lucky if I get a few hours in as well!

I know we can bring our Prophecies characters over to Cantha for this Tengu event, but isn't it true that you start further in the game? So I'm assuming if this is the case, we may be a long way from this Shing Jae Monestary which is where we get the masks. I know this town is the beginning of the game, so I wonder how far we will need to backtrack to get there?
Also, this Tengu/headstart event ends early Friday morning correct? Im in NYC so I guess 3am friday morning is the end right?

i am so glad my first college semester doesnt start until august. i will be playing all day the 27th. getting the mask for my 2 prophecies chars, and the 2 chars i am making when i get the game. just because i can really. i do have one question though. one of my prophecies chars is not lvl 20 and has not beat the game. will i still be able to bring him over to cantha, or do i have to finish prophecies first?

I do believe you have to beat the game, but don't quote me on that. I remember reading that a while ago. That may have changed though.

So.. I have my pre-order key. How do I use it?? Do I just reinstall with that key, or is it something that I only use on the head start day??? I feel like an idiot, but I couldn't find this information anywhere. Thanks

Click the link "Add access keys" (not exactly, but something like that) on login screen, below the user name and password column. Then you can add the preorder key to your account, just make sure don't creat new account, add that to your current GW account.

Entered my pre-order key a couple of days ago - and when on checking the access keys screen it said "Factions pre-release" was installed as an extra feature.
Now after todays update it's changed and say's now "Dragon Fangs" and "Spiritbinder". Nothing about the pre-release.
Anyone else have this?

Also, for the 24 hour period, characters from Prophecies will have access to the Monastery (Factions training area) to participate in the Tengu event. After that period, there is no going back (to the Monastery) as is the case with Prophecies pre-searing.
I don't anticipate the quests will be difficult because they have to be available for the new Factions characters to complete, starting in the Monastery at level 1.
Personally, I am going to bring my Prophecies warrior to the Monastery, find the quests and get as many items as I can for the masks for each of my chars. Fastest way I can think of to do it. I willl create Assassin and Ritualist just to reserve the name, but probably not play them much during the 24 hr event.

Do I have to create a new charcter for factions on the 27th? Or can I use my existing character from the 1st Guild Wars? One more thing, I can use my existing character from Guild Wars to travel to Cantha once I get Factions, but it must be merged together for this to work right?

When you buy the full Factions version, you decide whether or not to merge it to your Prophecies account. I believe you have to decide this upfront and cannot change your mind, but I've also heard about a 10 day period somehow playing in here.
But, whether it is immediate or within 10 days, you have to merge your accounts in order for your original GW 1 chars to access Factions after the initial 48 hours.
One question I have is: if you use a pre-order key to bring your chars over for this Tengu Mask, then you don't merge your accounts, or even buy Factions, do you get to keep the Tengu mask on your Prophecies characters sitting in Tyria ?
edit: The 10 day period is the amount of time you have to add the permanent Factions key to your account to preserve the characters that may have been created using the pre-order key. So, I believe it follows that the decision whether to merge accounts has to be made at the time you either add the Factions key or create a separate account with the Factions key. This is not a decision that can later be changed.

The same thing has happened to everyone who has spoken up about it. It has me a little worried but I have not heard news of any new key that needs to be inserted before the event, so....yeah.

This concern has been in the back of my mind, I just hesitated to ask about it. I double checked the access key booklet, and there's no other access key that's related to Factions. I also re-entered that same key, and it says something to the effect of "That key is already on your account." So it has to be fine as is, it just has me worried. :/
