Factions - Confused about alliance battles

After reading some articles on various sites, im left confused.

To get right to the point, for alliance battles, will it be just like it was for the FPE, where it was basically a random arenas type of thing, or when the actual game is out, are the alliance battles specifically for guilds?

Its really confusing me.

Suppozedly they will be for alliances...but we cant be sure until release.

If thats true, like I had hoped wasn't, all I've got to say, is: Aww man :P

I'm a guildless person, I dont like messing around with guilds too much. The alliance battles from the FPE was the most fun I have had in guild wars since release, basically.

I wish, and hope that even if they were for alliances, they would also have a random arenas type of thing like the FPE.

Radio interview went in to a bit more detail.

The to sides fight over 5 outposts (Lux and Kurz).
Once one side won the outpost for the time being, Alliance within that faction (that control it) can fight over to see who controls the town and get access to the elite missions.

Ah, so it is like the FPE?

Kind of stinks that only alliances get control of the towns though. Only the top few guild will get access to the exlite missions then, seems like the majority of the playebase wont ever get access to them =-S.

On the bright side, I at least will get to have my 12 vs 12 then :P I love the unorganized mayhem.

Thank you clearing it up for me though, it was just a bit confusing. I dont see why they couldn't just call them Faction Battles, lol.
