Ive been playing this game since release and I am suprised that I didn't see much of anything about housing. By housing I mean the ability to give players thier own home which would ofcourse cost a hefty price, but have some large advantages. To start, one with a house could have a bigger storage than others without it. What would have to come with house would be a search tool for finding other players houses. Another thing that could come with your very own house is furniture that you could buy/ get from quests that would make your house unique from others.

If this were implimented im sure a good amount more hours would be put into the game and would generate much more interest from the buyers. Only problem I can see with this is the bandwith due to the server needing to database quite a bit of information for each house.

same reason you dont have big interior permanent buildings (yet) increased server load

Im sure arena.net can afford a couple extra servers. Infact, i'm sure that the generated revenue due to this feature would alone pay for the servers.

But we have guildhalls, I dont think a very small map would bring much stress.

What it boils down to is you want more storage. I don't care either way if anet adds more or keeps it the same. It's their game they can do as they please.

Im sure alot of people would buy a house for more than just storage reasons. It can also be a great place for meeting and even house parties could work.

Ahh maybe I'm out of touch with today's youth , but I don't see what this has to do with this game... this game wasn't meant to be just an overglorified chat client like The Sims. It's easy enough now to meet your buddies to play with in any one of the numerous cities/districts. Other than storage, a house would have no other real practical use for the actualy gameplay.

Houses, IMO, would be a moneysink only. But even then, there would be the haves and have nots, the "i want to decorate my house" groups, items for the house that people hoard and sell only for exuberant amounts, and unless other players/people can randomly visit them, they will be like the guildhalls-unseen by the vast majority.
I am for the idea of a moneysink for people to buy upgrades/decorations/fun stuff for thier guild halls. Even traps or extra protection for the guild hall when playing GVG might be neat if implimented properly.

I don't think houses are such a great idea. While I understand the necessity for money sinks, I don't think this is the money sink for this game.

This game seems to have a transient feel to it (with the minor exception of the guild hall). You spend a good portion of the game moving from place to place, across the world in order to save it. No room for housing when you're looking for the evil empire to vanquish. Just doesn't "feel" right for this game.

If it's more storage that you're looking for, then place more at the guild hall, or increase the amount of storage at the Xulani Storage people, or something along a similar vein. But I have a home of my own, I don't need a virtual one.

Would the house's have a different front for each one? Like a large city of houses? Or would it be like the guild hall where you had to warp to a certian location? And how would you enable others to come to your house, some sort of invite system? And if you knew more then one person with a house, and they all invite you, how would that be handled on the world map?

This is not a flame, I would like to know answers to these questions. I think houses would be interesting, but not important. More to the point, I'd be vary interested in how they where implemented. It seems like a daunting task to me.

Reason 1) No need. When the story has you "on the run", there is no need for a house, if you're not staying.

Reason 2) Parties, rugs and chairs are no reason to have something this "in depth" added to a game.

Reason 3) See reason 1.

The story have us on the run and yet there is "Villany" thats a lv20 quest in a lv 14-16 area and when you get there you get a new quest that is a anti-white mantle quest.

I dont get locked out of Kryta areas after I beat the last South Kryta mission either ...

Houses are a gold sink, just because there is no pratical use for then does not mean people dont want one ...

There's no real way to fit it into the story. That's what I'm saying. There would need to be a "reason" to put them in, before I'd be OK with it (if it were my game/decision). I can't think of any reason for a house, that would fit in the story.

A barracks to go with the guild hall? Maybe.

More storage in general, or at the guild hall? Sign me up. I'll even pay extra for more storage options, in game.

But a house, so that I can have a "virtual house party"?

No thanks.

about the storage at the guild hall, ive heard that u get more npc at the hall, but ive never heard what, and how. some ppl have told me u get a storage at the hall, but im still in the dark, and maybe this isnt even relavent, but ne info on the above would be

Currently there is no storage options at guildhalls, not even regular storage.

As for houses ...

The reason is it gives players something to do and customize, the ability to invite people would be nice but something that is low priority as the reson of a house feature would be a time and gold sink.

There is also no reason in the story to be start/be a member of a guild, expecialy taking in consideration how the Guild Wars started.

so basically if i hear you right...the reason you want a house is to be unique when it boils right down to it. You want a place where people can go and say ooh wow look at how cool you are because you have all this neat stuff at your house. Problem is there are thousands upon thousands of g/w members. There is not enough that can be done to customise it so you are so unique that everybody loves coming to your house. And would it be like a district? Everybody travels to dingos house district four? Maybe only friends? Gives a whe new level to the friends list. Guild mates have a hall...friends have houses. The problem with that is like was posted earlier...the fact that it would overload the server. When you say guild halls are the same they are not. With a guild hall many people use the same hall. Hundreds of people belong to one guild. Now if each one of those guild members had their own hall it would be madness. As far as a house party?...whats the sense? Where in the 200 year history you got when you purchased guild wars were the characters partying at their homies house? (although it would give more use for that dwarven ale) What would a party do? A gathering of like minded people to hang out on a game? sounds suspiciously like a guild hall to me. Be happy with your hall for now and keep bugging gw for hall updates. As for a house?...let it go.
