Was this a good idea?

Ok, as I wanted to be MM I needed to get a superior rune of death magic. But, they're extremely expensive and costed 3.9k to buy, so I had to farm a bit and pull out a big loan from my friend (just paid it off) to buy this thing. However, one has to use it on an item to make it work, so I used it on my tunic, which is a necrotic tunic from droks, so 70 armor. Was this a good idea? The reason I worry about this is I don't know if my rune is now stuck on that tunic, or if I could salvage it out once I get the next best armor.

Droks is max armor, so you dont have to buy any upgraded armor, however if you do purchase like FOW or Grotto armor, you can salvage the rune out, but the armor will be toasted.

Usually I place it on the head scar pattern, the one that gives +1 to death. That way when I go get 15k I don't have to worry about salvaging it. You have, I think, a 33% chance to salvage it when upgrading your armor.

It's higher than that. I've salvaged runes form all kinds of armor pieces and honestly I've never had one not salvage out which gives me a 100% success rate. Granted I haven't tried it with more than 15 pieces of armor but still.

Really just the flip of the coin, you may get the rune, you may not, well that's what i've heard, haven't had any personal experiances in my 1000 hours of playing for some odd reason...

Yeah, you should be able to salvage it off. By the time you are thinking about 15k armour that sup death rune will seem like nothing anyway.

My advice is to get loads of head peice scar patterns, one for each attribute. Then you put your sup runes on corresponding to head peice. The rest of your armour should have minor runes and the Health Rune on. For a Necro i would have the head peice specialised, the chest on sup vigour (if you have the money), the arms, legs and feet i would have minor death, curses and soul reaping. No minor blood, cos imo if your using blood your proberly using sup blood magic rune anyway. (or at least most likely to)

That way you can switch from 16 blood to 16 curses easily, without having to salvage armour, while still keeping your maximum health up.
