GW - Making as much money as you can?

Is it me or is Guild Wars turning into a place where money is prime objective?

People running for money, running through missions.

Gone are the days where EVERYONE used to fight to get to places. Seeing level 3s in deserts.

Already, Factions is a less that a week away and people are already wondering wether to stock up/sell items as they want to make a profit (and avoid making a loss).

Cant people just wait patiently till the new factions comes out and enjoy what it has to offer :/

No, they can't. They don't want to lose the attention they are getting with luxury armours, rare weapon skins. In a place where anonymous people meet it's mostly all about showing off, superficialities in general.

I believe in any online rpg game (new/old). money will always be the prime objective. unless it's a game where it is easily handed to you. .

That's kind of ironic coming from someone who's avatar is wearing Fissure armor.

Meh, I don't really care about money a whole lot, but maybe that's because I'm mostly a PvP player... Money's good but I don't really need more than to get by.

I never saw the point in fissure armor and cool weapon skins because they do the exact same thing as stuff that costs 100x cheaper. Spend that money on skills and get your money's worth.

Meh, I try to get all my money from normal gameplay; still though, it's fun enough to farm once in a while as long as I don't repeat it over and over again. Plus I've gotten about 3 loots worth a lot, and a few ectos and shards here and there. I managed to save up about 100k between a superior vigor rune and Rago's Flame Staff, then I blew about 70k on my 15k armor, and then when I was around 35k again I found Drago's Flat Bow, so now I'm back around 70k...

Not that you guys care.

My real point is that I have enough money for whatever I need, and the cash flow isn't to bad even from minimal farming. I just don't do anything stupid like buy really expensive weapons, it's all stuff I find or buy for less than 2k I think. Or get from a collector.

You guys need to play games like Lineage 2 where even the best weapons and armors could be crafted and bought out.

Don't complain about money here. Lots of gold will buy you the FoW armor, or a rare skin weapon which will be identical in power to the normal 1.5k armor or other weapons which are 100x cheaper.

Its all about showing off, as someone said. Lots of money in this game won't make you stronger than the average joe who barely has 10k saved up.

When money and PVE allows you to get weapons BETTER than the PVP ones or that not everyone can afford, than you guys have a right to complain. These expensive weapons and armors were put into the game as a money sink. If the most expensive armor was ready available at droks for 10k total, there would soon be no point in gold in this game.

Also note the fact that for alot of people, Prophecies is done and factions is around the corner, what else to do till then? oh yeah, make as much money as possible for factions, infact, I messed up and bought a whole lotta stuff for my warrior, shrunk his pocket money to 30k(the ones that don't go to storage), gotta bring it up to atleast 80k b4 factions come, ranger needs about 20k more or so, anyone wanna buy a 15-22 req 8 15% dmg while enchanted rare flamberge? how about a spikey warr hammer? or a 20% while hexed req 9 +5 armor break hammer? ^^;

How do you kill the enemy weapons. How do you kill them more effectively, weapons with mods that suit your playstyle...you kinda WANT to have 50% hp usually and these cosmical weapons that offer 15^50 aint cheap...nor are fun fun mods to keep them happy....you need...money.

How do you not die...armor...which costs....money :-o but not every armor works for everything or every build so you need sets....which cost...money :-o

Now you need runes on those pieces of armor...which cost....money :-o


Now you want to infuse that armor to fight mursaat but you know you've done ice caves 3 times already you want someone to run you. That someone wants runes, armor, weapons, dye, materials, etc....which costs...money. So to provide you with a service he/she charges you...money.

( you are by now seeing how the mercantile system works, how many cabbies drive you for free, last time you flew internationally for a buck fifty was???? )

Lvl 3's in desert, old news. Some ppl have 2-3 accounts or are like me on their 8th character....I am sooooo bored and dont give a damn about rurik of the krytans I just wanna ascend get my att points and have a necro at my desposal so I can help in PvE/PvP. For me to achieve that I need to use the services provided by someone else, and this person wants money so they can buy things they want.

Runes and armor aren't that expensive, for the most part. You should be find on those with just the money that you pick up doing the game normally, without farming.

Get a group that's all running? Doesn't cost anything. Besides, getting runs isn't necessary.

Except that all the greatest things in GW are cheap. Droknars armor is the same as FoW, just Droknars costs 100x less.

Earning gold is a means to an end. Example: Most people would rather get that max 15^ 50% crystaline sword of (max whatever) out of a chest or a drop than buying it, so they go farming for it. In the course of that farming, they're going to be getting A LOT of drops that aren't that sword. So 1 of 2 things happens - either they get lucky and get the drop OR they earn enough from the other stuff they do get that they can afford to buy it from someone who got lucky.

As for armor, the 15K/FoW armor is about vanity for some, game enjoyment for others. I got FoW armor for my Mesmer because it's much better looking than the so-called enchanter's "armor" (didn't know victoria's secret made armor) And if I thought that the other FoW armors looked better than the other armors for the other professions I play, I'd think about working towards getting it. (Fortunately I don't, so I don't have to farm my butt off trying to get it!)

As for funtion - nothing wrong with having a good weapon with the perfect mods to help you with playing the game well, or having the rune set-ups to make your character versatile. If I want the Sup. Absorbtion rune for my Warrior - I've either got to get lucky and get the drop, or I've got to go farming to earn the 60K or so that it costs to buy it.

Trimmed you down there for succinctness. Yeah that's how I got started though. I'm still looking for the one thing I need and I have yet to find it. Can't find a superior absorb for anything but in the course of looking for one I've become rather wealthy. I'm not about to pay 50K or more for the damn thing when it drops for free. Right now I'm sitting on my loot until factions because I'll have plenty to spend it on then. As it stands right now I don't need anything else. I don't want FoW armor, it looks ugly in my opinion. All my weapons are the best of the best for my specific builds. My armors are dyed red because that's the guild colors and red dye is cheap. All I really need is that Superior Absorb LoL and I'm still hunting for it in ettin land.

I was farming for the last week or so because i was bored lol, i was just saving up money because the assassin i am going to have is very squishy, which means i want to get some good armor, even if my attacks are weak in the beginning

Lol i don't think anyone is getting male assassin FoW armor..

It's like prepping up for a natural disaster.Board up the walls, fix the sand bags, more dam support.
