Does this skill really work? I've been trying to use it to provide extra armor for my pet while I level it up against Minotaurs outside of Ice Cave. I swear that every time I use it the damn wolves go from green to red and attack my henchmen. Am I not understanding how this is supposed to work?

FWIW I made my pet bird Dire by killing the two pairs of Jungle Trolls outside Bloodstone Fen. Only took a couple of hours. You just need to jack up BM and use those attack skills while taking all the troll aggro yourself.

Wild animals won't be turned red by Otyugh's Cry. The skill doesn't fire off unless you've got an enemy targeted (invalid target), so that's definitely not your problem. The only thing that will make wild animals go red is either 1) someone in your party using an AoE that they get hit with or 2) an enemy using an AoE that has an 'around target foe' effect... for whatever reason the AI currently registers that around you effect as being you hitting them, whether or not you used the skill in question.

For example, if you attack through Spiteful Spirit as a friendly little bear walks by, the bear will become aggressive towards you rather than the caster of the Spiteful Spirit. This is especially annoying with any of the "target foe and all adjacent/nearby foes" AoE spells. If your enemy's hitting the animal it should hate them, not you, but that's not the way it works, unfortunately.
