Are there any hidden areas in GW?
Gmr Leon
In some games there are hidden areas that have rare items and I've been playing GW for 3 months now and haven't seen any hidden areas. I know this isn't the usual single player rpg game with a hidden dungeon that has the best item in the game. But I would still like to know if there are any areas that Anet hid from us to find during our playing of the game.
So could anyone here tell me if there are hidden areas in GW?

Don't think so. Most people minimize GW and maximize guildwarsguru when ever something new or interesting is discovered. For example there were free chests in Dreadnought's Drift and they got nerfed quickly as soon as people publicised them.

Theres Underworld and Fissure of Woe in ToA if that counts.

There are no "hidden" areas in the sense of having some sort of a special item. Certain areas have better loot than others, however. Tombs of the Primeval Kings drops "green" items at the end, and Sorrow's Furnace bosses can drop green items also. Like was stated, Fissure of Woe and Underworld have high-level loot. Dreadnought's Drift was an exploit, there was a "Lost Strongbox" and a "Frozen Chest" that dropped unique items that are extremely rare (such as Dwarven Axes, Sephis Axes, and so on) without the use of any key. ArenaNet, with their obessive need to balance things, (not being cynical, just stating a truth ) usually removes any exploit in the game that causes a significant imbalance, which ultimately keeps the expression Skill > Grind intact.

basically because of it being a popular online game anything secert doesn't stay secert for long at all. That's not to say you wont notice little hidden nice places to just look at and so forth... it wasn't untill like my third time through the game that I noticed the cave in presearing was still there in post. >.>
Mtank325
There's areas nobody visits and are nonessential such as Dragon's Gullet and Majesty's Rest so technically they could be secret since a majority of players will never go there or never see the need to. But then again they're like going to a circus without clowns. I don't know how that analogy fits, but there you go.

Falls goot some nice looks to...

So if i discovered hidden place or chest in factions and didn't share it with GWG community to make high profit from it before it being hit with nerf bat like others..do i violate any rules here ?

As for "hidden areas" there are really none. However, there are some really cool looking places that noone visits (because there really is no need too). There are some nice looking caves in the shiverpeaks and the Flame Corrider and places like that are interesting to visit.

i can not remember where it is, but there is somewhere in a narrow valley where the fog gets so dense you will barely be able to see the mountain giant beating you there its kinda cool. atleast i think so. theres nothing special there though

I have a secret palce with my girlfriend, we went there if we'd like to be alone
I never read about in the forums, so it still will be a secret, we never saw anyone there too.

Lemme guess..I go there with my women guildies too: a glitch in Aurora Glade?

That's really surprising considering the INSTANCED MAPS..but if the 'secret' place was able to have other people not in your party then obviously it is in a town somewhere..Aurora Glade perhaps?

i was capping the last 3 skills for my ranger last night and found an elder wolf, one that you can cap as a pet, and it as lvl 15, i thought the wolf and spider was only in the UW.

Witchblade
there is a secret area in Pre-Searing
Sidra
I actually enjoyed clearing the pre-searing catacombs on my mesmer and just walking around sightseeing... there are some really beautiful semi-open areas off to the left from the entrance.

ToA
Lornar's Pass shrine (large double door entrance)
Tombs Portal on way to Hall of Heroes PvE Version
Heroes Ascent on way to Hall of Heroes. PvP Version
so there are 4 but in reality they are the same on the last 2, just different entrances and content inside...
Anyone know for sure if the Majasty's Rest Balthazars shrine will take you down to Fissure of Woe? I been there in the past but always forget to check...
Nope just checked. its the Balthazars shrine in The Falls that takes you to Fissure of Woe.

Watch for elder cranes tigers and Moas in Cantha... The Dark Moa is still one of the more unique looking ones. I really like its Accessories on the pet. Wish more pets could have them... I have not been able to get a peep out of anyone in arenanet about the new secret pet that is past the harvest temple... I can't wait to see that. Its got to be something really interesting for them to be sitting on it so well...

Beautiful.. I'v always loved presearing, best graphics there.

I pretty much meant by hidden areas, areas that seem to have some significance or are nice to hang out in. I'd like to see a map to some of these places mentioned. Not saying you have to,but since the areas are instanced it doesn't really matter since, unless it's a town,no one else will be there.

there are several out of the way places in pre-searing that most never see.....a few really nice caves. If you completely explore the catacombs you can see some nice sights. Also if your strong enough to clear all the cahr out of the "over the wall" mission there is alot of things there.
Many ppl don't even visit Piken square in pre-searing to see what it looks like before the searing.
Spend some time in pre-searing....get off your normal questing routs....you 're sure to find some nice stuff.

yea, I think there are quite alot of 'Interesting places' where people dont very often visit!
usually they dont get visited because there is no real need to.. no quest or anything, these are called 'explorable areas' of which there are loads actually!..
It will be fun to go to those places again to get the exploration titles ;D
My favorite is a place north of the ascalon section.. it has Hydra's in it and the Rock formations are... interesting to say the least nearly every other rock formation seems to form a recognizable shape of certain..er.. things

I also saw from that view point by chance when I visited Lyssa Statue in Twin Serpent Lake. It has a river and we can stand under water. Red foes in radar are lots of skales.
