While I was searching the internet to find out what a spiritwood plank is use for I came across something I've never seen before.

Exotic Skill Charm Vendor?
Is this something that was removed from the beta?
If that's the way the game used to look I would like that look back.

yeah, those pics were from early beta events for GW:P
I actually like the game as it is now, though those beta days were good times

I take it that they got rid of the vendor because they thought it made the characters too powerful?

You could buy them with a high level character and trade the skills to low level characters. Or something of the sort... Not like it matters anymore with all unlocked skills available at skill trainers.

I don't think so. It was just a different way of going about things, not a better or worse way. I think it just didn't suit what ArenaNet had in mind for the game or something

Nah, I definitely remember it being something about the trading of them.
Mandy Memory
It was removed because Cap Sigs were added...It didnt go over very well.

The beta had the pendants and rings thing with skills, and you put the skill charms in those to make them temporary or permanent... Rings I think were the permanent version. been so long I can't remember. pendants were like 24-48 hrs I think... But it was nice cause you could have skills from professions you were not affiliated with. IE a ranger could buy you a Charm Animal Charm to put in your Expert Pendant. then you would have charm animal even though your a Warrior Monk. that kind of thing...
The rings were worse... In the end I think they did the right thing the way it works now. Its far easier to buy and switching the skills and unlocking them or capping them, then it was keeping track of charms rings and pendants...
And the skills are now on the correct professions only and not an amalgamation of every skill list.
