it will tell you if and how well it will do

oh well i havent bought the computer yet lol

Don't expect to play any game made in the last couple years smoothly on integrated video. Super slow, no support for shaders. Even a geforce 4 mx supports vertex shaders.

lol thanks... the computer i play guild wars on has nvidia geforce mx420 with 256 ram.. i kinda need another comp
my budget is 600

What are the specs on the one you have now. You could use some parts from that one, if you know how to build.
Meneldil
no i need this computer for my parents

Ah, are they playing gw? But pentium m's are good. Can't really game on a cheap laptop. Like the one i'm on now. Integrated, gives me 5fps in guild wars at 320 x 240 windowed. You can get a pretty good desktop for 600 dollars. I did 2 years ago, without a monitor or a copy of windows though.
Meneldil
i just want to know if this graphics thingy is able to play guild wars on this laptop im considering buying
Lurid
Probably not, i'm fairly certain that it will barely play the game at all, even on smaller resolutions. Laptops that weren't sold to the gaming market usually have very little memory aswell, which causes more problems for GW....

As for your original post, try and avoid anything that includes the words "integrated graphics".

Pretty much all 'standard' and 'budget' model laptops come with Intel's integrated graphic chips which aren't really meant for gaming. Higher-end laptops have ATi or nVidia mobile chips that are OK for gaming (my friend has one pricy laptop with integrated ATi chip, and plays stuff like F.E.A.R easy on it.) I suppose there are cheaper laptops with lower end ATi/nVidia chips that should be ~ok for GW, I'm not that familiar with those tho.

True, but they are out there if you look around. My Sister picked up a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo for £599 not long back.

Plus, it's such a sexy little notebook too, well if a computer can be sexy that is.

Hello everybody, here are my specs (Dell XPS m140):
Processor: Intel Pentium M 740 (1733MHz)
Graphics Card: Intel(R) Mobile 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Family <--i.e. GMA 900
Memory: 512MB
Free Disk Space: 30.95GB
Optical Drive: CD/DVD
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP
I ran the Gameadvisor, and this is the relative performance of my laptop:
_________^_________________________________^
____minimum specs________________________my laptop
frankly, my results suprised me quite a bit. I have been runnning my desktop on a Ti4400 OCed, and I didn't know that integrated has progressed so far. With the lag issues apparently cleared up, I think I'm going to make the plunge and finally get this game!
BTW: I run Rome:Total War on med settings 1024x768...

Integrated graphics won't do you much good. I've got a Toshiba Satellite with an ATI MOBILITY 9000 and Factions lags like mad on it. I've got 1.5 GB RAM with 128 MB dedicated to the video card. Prophecies ran okay and Factions will KINDA run, but you need a gaming laptop if you're big into gaming.
Laptops are alright if you have a legitimate need for the ability to go mobile. You're much better off getting a desktop when it comes to performance and making your money go further. Unless you get a powerhouse of a laptop or you're still running a P3 or older in your desktop, you should never replace the desktop for a notebook.

well...the ATI Mobility 9000 is a LOT older than the GMA 900...
I guess it depends what games you want to play. HL2 will definitely not run. Neither will F.E.A.R. But I have many older games I need to catch up on (Rome: Total War, NOLF2, NFSU2, BF19942...), and I can play newer games with lower settings at 1024x768 (my screen is only 14" after all), so I'm happy.
EDIT: I checked GameAdvisor again, and it says I barely failed meeting requirements for Rome: Total War!!!

Here is the game advisor link to scan for guild wars
http://gameadvisor.futuremark.com/ga...jsp?gameId=905
The link at the top used City of Villians as the game test. Guild Wars Factions wasn't listed.
Interesting Side Note: It pegged my AMD 2 ghz CPU (AMD 3400+) as a 803 mhz speed due to AMD Quite N Cool slowing my cpu down to save power based on usage. You will want to disable Quite N Cool before you run the scan or any cpu throtle / engery saver.
It went from "purrr" / 41% that scanned has a faster system to "Wow" 8% have a faster system then me.
Specs
Processor AMD Athlon(tm) 64 2211MHz <--- Was reading 803 mhz
Display Card NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra
Memory 1024MB
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP
Free Disk Space 34.55GB
Display Card Memory 128MB
Display Driver Version 8.4.2.6
DirectX Version 9.0c
Optical Drive CD/DVD
Sound Card SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [9000]
It's also says I should be able to run FEAR better then I actually can run FEAR

I have a Toshiba Satellita with a Pentium M 1.5, 512 RAM and the 800 series intel integrated graphics. with my setting set close to minimal it runs at a constent 40 frames per second. dont expect it too look great but the game will run fine.

Update: I just got GW (name: Imperial Archon), and here are my video settings:
Reflections:Terrain and Sky
Terrain Detail: Med
Shadows: Low
Texture Detail: Med
It lags a *bit* in towns, but during instances its perfectly smooth.
