Do NOT put rare items on your Cantha Chars!

Unless you have the retail key!

I'm just saying this now to try and stop the inevitable "I put a 100k item on my Assassin, and now I can't access it!" thread.

Please, people, think before you do this. Cantha characters will be locked after the 2 day Head Start unless you enter a retail code.

Hopefully, this post will stick around for awhile.

yes you are correct about that.

i wasnt aware holding 100 million gold was one of the inherant skills of the assassin.

And don't forget the pots! Toss out the ol' ashes and you got plenty of room for more cash.

Ill be making as assassin...playing them a "little" get them a tengu mask, then tak all their goodies and dump it in storage and not pay them too much attention.

Especially so since Im in Australia and ordered CE, delayed >.< ANd it would suck to lose an assassin with 12 black dye and tonnes of new armor.

Good post, there were people that put items on there PvP preview account last time around and I think there still locked (they may of been freed for a short during the pve preview event.. but I'm not sure).

You don't lose the items on the character, your character is simply locked. Get the Factions game key and your character is unlocked, I don't know whats with all the hubbub on to make a thread in which it's not a serious matter. Unless you lost the item because you don't plan on buying Factions.

Good advice. My assassin won't be touching her storage until I get the CE installed, and I may not play her much other than getting her a Tengu mask.

The characters will be deleted if you do not install the retail key in 10 days, which might prove problematic for international CE orderers.

I guess this is just a heads-up thread for those ppl who will later be making threads and complaining about this, nonetheless, ppl will probably still whine about it come next week. /watch.

All ive been reading from info (and Gaile) is that there is no "deletion". I would like an official word on it, just for reference... /fenx.

About characters being deleted and such:
Focus on the text in bold. After the 3 day access expires:

1) Factions content will be locked: That means that, if you've made a Canthan character he will be locked.

2) Slots will last for another ten days: After 10 days they will disappear, meaning any character on them should disappear too.

This implies that if you have 4 full slots and make a Canthan character on a 5th, that character will disappear after 10 days without the Factions retail key. If you have two slots free (out of six total), that character will merely be inaccessible.

Could someone confirm or deny this please ?

This is a very valid argument for anybody who preordered the COLLECTORS edition that is delayed by a week (almost 10 days). I imagine that those who preordered the CE will have an issue with their characters being deleted.

Question: Can we bring our current characters to Cantha during the early start? And what happens to the skills/items that these characters obtain if we can?

Skill will be unlocked, but unuseable just like they are now. I can equip factions skills on my PvP characters, but they are blacked out and cant be used.

As for items, I dont think they would touch those. Considering that Prophecies characters will be buying/selling these items regardless of having purchased Factions, it makes no sense for them to disappear or be unuseable after the event.

I don't think the slots will be deleted. The way I interpreted it, Cantha created character will be locked after the head start. If you use the Bonus Slots to create a Prophecy character, then those slots will be locked as well after 10 days.

Of course, I could be wrong, and it's not worth losing anything of value over.

Just curious, those that are so sure the Bonus Slots will be deleted: from what are you basing this? EDITED:

It could mean Bonus Slots used for PvP or Prophecy characters will get a 10 day Grace Period before they are locked.

The fact is, the above quote does not say exactly what will happen after the Grace Period, but Gaile Gray said on a Chat Log, they will NOT be deleted. If someone has read something to the contrary, I'd like to see it.

The second link is the money quote. She repeats, they will not be deleted, they simply become inacessible after 10 days.

Even with this generous heads-up, I bet there will STILL be people running around screaming "OMG I LOST EVERYTHING IN MY EXTRA SLOTS CHAR!!!!1". If there's anything we've learned from people in the past, is that people can do some real stupid stuff.
