I ran a virus scan with norton today....the virus was infecting some files in my windows/system stuff.

Anyways, I was in a hurry and accidently deleted some files along with it. I don't know much about what I deleted except for the fact that now I can't do any disk defragments...that's it, if anyone knows where the disk drfragment file is being kept, and you can send me over a copy of the whole folder and see if it will run...that will be great, if not, its ok.

I can't seem to find my windows xp pro disk, so this is the only solution I have atm. Please reply if you can give me a hand ASAP in this thread.

Thank you in advance.

norton antivirus couldn't find a pair of tits in a strip joint...... the point is.... don't use it.....

go to google and just download an antivirus program call Nod32, best AV software to date.

as for disk defrag you should be able to find it in ur xp CD or microsoft homepage

Read the thread above you... I said I couldn't find my xp pro disk...

I don't like the idea of downloading another disk defragment software, because I need to make sure I have everything back thats missing in windows...

I just want to make this clean and simple.

Re installing windows is my last solution, and one that I'm not interested to take.

Thats where the exe is saved

%SystemRoot%\System32\dfrg.msc

You might be able to dowload it from the net.

Search for dfrg.msc

Or try system restore to a point before the time you did the scan.

as far as i know.. you may need
dfrg.msc
dfrgfat.exe
dfrgntsf.exe
dfrgres.dll
dfrgsnap.dll
dfrggui.dll
in your windows\system32 folder.

i could supply you with a set from the german xp pro - but you may want it chinese/english. depending what your os is using.
and for safety reasons i would recommend not to take the files from someone else or you risk executing malicious code.
for reinstalling it via the system control -> software -> windows components you'd need the right .cab file in your language.
