What's gonna happen to the noobs?

I'm feeling a bit worried about the upcoming expansion. Why? Well me beeing a noob and my friend that I play with beeing a lil' lazy i've only gotten to LA, and even now I it's like half runners and half ppl just standing there, when I try to go for mishs. So what's gonna happen after factions? Will all the dists just empty out? Why would anyone ever play the normal campeign again? Except for noobs like me ofc, which there aren't very many of.
So, what do you think will happen?

Frankly, I don't know or care. Its never been my place to care about what other people do, let alone the people newer to the game. I really doubt you'll see a massive difference in the first few days, and there will always be people playing the game. The Battlefield 2 demo lived on forever..(still does?) And lots of people still play halo (and the demo) on the verge of Halo 3 being released. People are strange that way..

And Ill be playing GW:P for at least a week after Factions' release..farming, and being too lazy to get to the store anytime soon.

The battlefield 2 demo was still going strong the last time I played it last week. I daresay I like it a lot better than the actual game (i tried it at my friend's house).

don't feel worried at all!!! The smart players will hang back in Proph. for a bit.
Over the next couple of weeks there are gonna be tons of updates, price fixes you name it. Best to just watch from distance, then go in like gangbusters.

Bill Gate said himself they would release halo to combat the release of ps3.

Expect it at the same time. Even though I don't know why. Unreal is so much better.

I agree and while i can't control myself sometimes it's best to take it slow the first couple of weeks or you're bound to get angry over some fix or another... I also know some people who order Factions and are going to get Prophieces later so it might for a few weeks get a little more sparce but it will go back to normal once the hype fades and people choose which and what they like best.

how can you compare such different styles of FPS is beyond me NOOB

anyway, i think things will stabilize in say 1-2 weeks, when most of the people wouldve played a fair bit in Cantha, some of them might go finish business in Tyria. if it doesnt work out this way, sorry Anet, but you suck severely

PS btw we noobs ought to stick TOGETHA NOOBZ UNITE!!!11

Well my friend just bought a game, so I've restarted And my main character still isn't finished

Anyway, all those people that buy factions as their first GW game, will undoubtedly come this way too.

Add Counterstrike to the list of old games still being played in a big way

there will be always players that stick to their old games, instead of picking up the new sequel... take counterstrike as an example if you wish, tho i think Quake or Unreal would be a much-better example : there are still MANY hardcore players of Quake 1 (a bit modded hto, its QuakeWorld, but basically except some gameplay changes i think its the same technology-wise), there are even competitions, mapping challenges, even a steady stream (ok, smaller htan newer games, but yet existant) of game footage vids. and at the same time theres Quake 4. people just like playing what they like ;P

which is a different matter in GW, as Factions is not a new game, rather an Expansion, and as such itd be quite interesting to see how Anet handles with lots of conflicting points

So why play GW at all?

Fortunately there are people who play this game who like to help out...

Anyway sno0zer, what server are you on? I would be happy to pop along and help you out in a few missions. PM whenever you need help.

A lot of people aren't even planning to buy Factions... at least not for a while. I remember seeing a thread about this, but am too lazy right now to look for it. At any rate, I'm one of those people. I don't plan to get Factions anytime soon as I don't feel like I'm close to being fulfilled by Prophecies (by that, I just mean I feel like there is so much more to do that I haven't done yet).

I don't think you'll have any trouble finding people.

Especially with the increase in rare drops and the new PvE titles. I know a lot of people, including myself, that need to redo several missions to get the 100% map uncovered. Although I will be running through most of this, I'll probably have to "do" the mission on some of the later ones, just to make sure I survive long enough to map the area.

the best thing you can do is find an active guild, so you will almost always have somebody competent to do missions with. if you are not getting the expansion, dont worry, because prophecies remains the "big" story, and there will always be people buying it, and people who dont want or cant buy factions

Reality is a great place to visit, but I couldn't live there.

I have minor concern on this matter. Since Anet is preparong with the late updates. One in particular caught my eye. The drops rates have been drastically reduced..but the quality is increased..? What the hell is up with that? Even if you increase the quality if there is no good drop rate then itsa worthless update. The nerfing of the MM also caught my eye. Since now my MM is on its last leg. But enough on that. It seems as though the newer players to GW and GW:F will just have to make due as best they can. I myself only being a 2 monther..Have been able to keep up with things. I have rough spots after buying my superior runes for my upcoming 55 monk but things will get better even though this update will slow things down due to drop rates. I'm just concerned on the fact that the "richer" folk of GW are really putting a squeez on the noobs with the pricing of items and the release of the new. I mean..Victo's Battle Axe has been changed to 20/20...If i'm not wrong. What about the players whom own the old version? Will it be upgraded automatically? Or remain a 10/10..If so then the price and demand will decrease dramatically. and those whom bought say for 20k now its worth only 10k- have really lost a major source of income to keep up with the ever increasing market. In this factor, noobs will be left in the dust unless they can come across luck and find great items. And sell them for a price best fitting. There will be players who stick with GW and now move to Factions so there will not be much of a change in the long run. Just suck it up and hold on.

As I said in another post... people will eventually get bored with Factions.. as people get bored. It's human nature. Many will go back and forth between Tyria and Cantha.

To the OP: Count your blessings - with most of the hardcore players diverted to Factions, you can play through Prophecies with fellow noobs as if it were a brand new game...with less trade spam!

If only this would be true... For quite some time, I still see LA and Forge being the major WTS/WTB trading posts in the game. The only thing that will ever reduce the trade spam will be an auction house of some sort. But even then, you'll still have people spamming WTS/WTB in the local and trade channels, just to be annoying. A reduction in trade spam would be nice. People could actually talk *gasp* in the towns/outposts! Remember what that was like?

I can't answer really..MMO's have an addictive nature I guess..which for some reason makes you keep playing. And also, I can't even get around to get things done for my characters, let alone other peoples'. (not always true though)

Anywayyy, another reason for staying in GW:P for a iittle while would be farming..maybe thats been mentioned, but the better farming spots won't be immediatedly discovered in GW:F for a while, so for now I'll stick to my usual stuff. That, and people who didn't go through the game yet with a new character would be another reason to stay, at least for a while.
