Guild Wars and Guild Wars: Factions

I'm concerned about the release of the Guild Wars: Factions. Will this new release force anyone whom don't wish to purchase to have too in order to continue play on Guild Wars? Due to my own financial problems, gas *cough* I haven't been able to get my hands on the cash needed for the game. And was wondering can I still play Guild Wars without buying Factions?

May be a dumb question but someone has to ask...

I cant get it right now either, you can still play the original but it seems like they are killing a lot of the stuff in normal GW in order to push people over, which kinda sucks...

Yes you can, and always will be able to. Factions is basically an add on that adds the new proffesions, items ect. You can play along those who have factions still. I doubt the factions items will overpower the prophecies items. They will still probably be balanced.

I don't think so, there will be balance changes that are "global" now when any new campaigns come out and that won't change. Despiste Tyria being vacant atm (everything is doing the new thing) I do expect population to go back up once Factions "newness" wears off. And as soon as they have a price drop on GW C1, expect more players.

They even upgraded our current armor to better versions in C1 (you can upgrade existing armor latter for free with the patch notes).

Yeah- The C1 population will rise. With all games, parts become boring. People WILL end up going back the prophecies every now and then.

I for one won't be cancelling about prophecies... once i've completed Cantha with my assasain, i'm going straight back to Tyria and complete them missions.(If that's possible.)

So the armor I am wearing for example the change in Knights. If I have that item before the updates..will it be updated without the need to repurchase later? or should I go ahead and rebuy my droks armor now? I'm confused with all this new updates. I read them sure but dont always get the full picture. i'm jus gonna wait it out and hope for the best. Sure i can use the new professions and I haven't got my preorder yet..so much for the pre part. but im glad things are changing i was able for once to buy my monk runes at a nice pirce or 6-7k..better then 9-11k.. Im just using this time to stock up..Simply farm my brains out as usual. Don't buy a single thing and sell...So far..I started with 23k 3 weeks ago now i have 463k to spend when the prices go back to normal or reside at a decent level.

they said there would be a patch which would allow a FREE upgrade but they have to get Factions out and stable before it happens
