Retroactive Signet of Capture EXP Bonus

Alright, I'm looking for opinions on this...

Remember how when the amount of EXP needed for L20's to earn a skill point was lowered from 20k to 15k? Remember how your skill point total was retroactively adjusted up based on this change?

My suggestion is to make the new Signet of Capture EXP bonus retroactive as well. Questions: do you think this is a) possible and b) appropriate?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's this:

Quote:
Signet of Capture: now gives 250 XP for each level you have when used to capture an Elite skill.
One difficulty: Does the GW database know what level you were at when you used a CapSig?

Also, if I am being a total moron and this is already confirmed planned/not, let me know. I promise not to cry (much).

Exactly. It can add up to a rather significant amount of EXP. In one of my char's case, it'd be about 6 skill points. I'm a casual player, so your mileage will vary, of course.

I'm not going to be mad if it doesn't happen. I think it'd be nice, and it seems consistent with A.Net's past decisions, but I'm just one guy. That's why I'm looking for opinions.

If they just took the current number of Elites that each character has and multiplied it by 5k XP, I think would work since most players capped skills at level 18 or more.

I don't think this would unnecessarily unbalance for those characters that were run to the bosses and capped at lower levels. Even if the caps were done at level 1 that's 250 XP. It's only a difference of 4750 XP for 1 Elite cap. And a good portion of the Elites are usually in hard to reach areas of the Southern Shiverpeaks and Ring of Fire Islands (where 98% of the characters are level 20).

Just do a one time reward for existing characters based on the number of Elites they currently have.

Really doesn't seem fair for those of us that capped a load of stuff before this stuff... What about all those people who have every single elite in the game, don't they get a title?

The Title is retroactive. The experience currently is not. Like the Title Tyrian Cartographer - that is for exploring over 90% of Tyria. If the Titles weren't retroactive nobody would currently have Titles.

If you have over 90 Elites, then you have the Title: Skill Hunter.

I somehow doubt they will do it. Not that I'm not in support of the idea, but I don't think it'll happen.

Remember the Villainy of Galrath? Oh, I did that quest with a group of 6 people, most of whom were not level 20. We didn't know about ToA at the time. We spent hours doing it, not even quitting when we all got down to -60% DP. Ha, oh how innocent and newbish I was.

But we got it done. And for our efforts we were rewarded a lovely 500 experience points. This was back when experience really mattered to me, mind you.

...Two days later they patched it and bumped up the reward to 4000 experience points. Did I see any of that? Nope.

Agree that it probably won't happen.

Agree that I would like to see it happen.

But still, captures are easy to track. If only they gave, say, a 2500 retroactive bonus, so people who capped at low levels would not get any boni.
I remember when they changed skill points from every 20000 xp, to every 15000 xp. That was retroactive, as I got 4 skill points first time I got xp after that update. Why can't this be retroactive?

I agree that this 5,000xp per elite should be retroactive. I haven't done extensive capturing on my characters, just all their primary elites with perhaps 1-2 secondary elites. So for an average player(who's captured 15-20 skills after reaching level 20), it would only result in an extra 75,000-100,000xp. That's really not a lot, I could easily farm up that amount in under an hour. That being said, it wouldn't be a huge disappointment if this idea isn't implemented. But it would make sense if it were.

You can't buy elite skills...
you can only cap them with the Signet of Capture.

Doesn't buying a cap sig use up one skill point anyway?

I'd /sign a petition to retro this... kinda want my 450k~ xp

No real reason not to either, except that we do have the headstart on xp from faction characters.

ANet should reward some retroactive XP for Elite skill caps. 2500xp (lvl10) would be a fair compromise/estimate for each Elite skill before factions.
