Abusing the minion limit

The way I see it, this update isn't all that bad, let my show you my reasons-

-Animate bone minions costs 15 energy now, which summons 2 minions

-With no points in death magic, you cannot maintain more than 2 minions at once, summon more and previous ones die

-16 points in soul reaping provides 16 energy every time anything dies, including minions

Add this together and you have a constant flow of energy, considering your minions aren't the only things dying. Thats constant energy management with a summoning skill, only using one slot on your bar, without having to put anything in the attribute its linked to.

Hmm, even if minions were 15 energy each, would there be enough corpses to actually make an army. Also i think it would benefit more for the minion bomber build not the minion master.

The OP is simply showing that Bone Minions can be used as a pure energy creation mechanism and not as a real offensive tool. Creating two minions for a total of 15 nrg - The next time you summon Minions, the two existing ones expire and the necro gains (2xSoul_Reaping nrg - 15) energy. Makes those Minions into pure Energy Batteries. (again assuming that there's a second corpse to summon from).

interesting idea, but the cast time is kinda long for an energy management spell, and with high SR necros usually dont have many energy problems anyway.

perhaps for some sort of build which involves spamming lots of high cost ele spells...

well, i wudnt really call this "abusing," more like using the current possibility to ur advantage. the only good thing ive found in dis update is teh xp when u cap an elite, certainly helps when lvlin low lvl chars

Plus, if you have a ritualist secondary, you can throw on (minimum effectiveness but still helpful) Creator's Boon for 3 energy and some odd amount of hp for each minion created.

It's nice to have ABM if you're NOT an MM for this purpose, I guess. No point in being an MM anymore anyway, really. At least you can still use the skills for something, if not for their original use.

Add Dark Bond to your skill bar and be protected from 75% damage while your dual Minions live. I use that combo with my AotL Dark Bomber build, even back when Minions were 25E, and it works very well. Under AotL and Blood Renewal with Dark Bond, you can survive 2-3 Warriors pounding on you.
