noticing something interesting and disturbing since the last update:
all new gold items are id'ing with perfect dmg mod, whether it be ^50, stance, enchanted, etc.

from gw website:
WEAPONS, SHIELDS AND FOCUS ITEMS

* Significantly improved the quality of rare (gold) and uncommon (purple) items.

that would explain why there is a purple 14^50 sickle on high end, and how i id'ed a 9% furious mod on a purple axe (1% off max!!).

the evidence we have so far (and i'm only looking at factions items because we can be absolutely sure those were dropped after the update):

15^50 gothic sword
15^50 plagueborn hammer
15^50 platinum sickles
15/-10 sickle
15/-5 oni daggers
15/-5 gilded daggers

has anyone gotten a gold item that has NOT id'ed with a perfect dmg mod/bonus since the last update?

if all golds are now id'ing with perfect mods, we are going to see an influx of perfect weapons for all skins, which is going to severely affect the value of rares (yet again) ... think new gold crystallines, dwarvens, serpents, etc dropping in hoh.

15% vs hexed crystalline sword

edit:
ps. if this is truly the case, go buy all the unid factions items ppl are selling, quick! LOL

ive gotten 2 golds 2day and they both sucked, so i guess its just luck. And i agree that this is going to definatly bring down prices which is starting to make GW fuking gay.

Mhh well i got a holy staff in SD today from a chest ( only gold weapon didn't play much). Req 10 +29hp 19% longer ench. 9% faster casting. But i've seen tons of perfect drops around. +30hp for sword goes for 60-70k now, sup abs is 39k and falling, same sup vigor. End of trading? Well it was a pain selling in the past weeks anyway, items lost value so quickly that it was really hard to make some decent cash. And i guess this update finally killed the trading part of the game. I'll see what the next few days will bring, but from what it seems it will be really easy to get sup runes, perfect weapons and upgrades. Tons of new greens appearing also for low-mid levels is gonna be the last blow. Why that? Well, I thought a little about it and the only reason i found is to kill ebayers.. it's impossible to stop them all, so what's the other solution? Making money worthless... we will be able to get our favorite gold skin with the upgrades we like with few thousand coins, so no need to possess millions anymore. And i read somewhere that in the next chapter there will be probably mods for the shields too. Trading was a big part of the game, but since the introduction of greens it was clear that Anet wanted to low prices on weapons to balance the game for everyone, even casual players could easily get the best things. GW is not a RPG, it's more like a strategic game, so no needs to have traders
One thing is for sure, less trading= more playing... so finally I'll find a guild to just do PvP
We'll see what tomorrow brings, I'm kinda happy though.

purples now go up to 14>50... have seen a few... I think just for factions items I've seen so far... that would make golds 15>50 only.. and yeah, they are tryin to kill trading... stuff is dropping like crazy

Well.. its nice to see that without farming, casual players stand a chance to get some nice drops or good weapons not being gold. I joined guild wars not very long ago, and I found people with millions of gold and I was struggling with getting 2k. In any case, I think its a step in the right direction. The economy won't die, just become more realistic I believe.

ill quit if they screw up trading. i enjoyed it greatly and if they lower the prices so any newb can own a perfect weapon that sucks. i make gold from trading and if that is ruined i cannot make gold. i am sure this is the same for others too. all i can see if the number of potential ebayers increasing if they destroy another way of making gold.

Come on bacon... You know you want to...

And to add my two-cents worth: I doubt it is the end to trading. I believe Anet anticipates a lot, or at least a fair number of new players joining us after Factions release. As Arya has mentioned earlier, the latest update just balances things out for everyone - imagine a two-week-old player making it through tutorial, with his/her first platinum ready to buy a new weapon... He comes across a seller with something he likes, but gets slapped with a 500k price tag instead... And just because they can't afford it, they are called all sorts of names and ignored when they have reasons to ask why such an item costs so much... I'm sure it wouldn't be long before such a person decided to call it quits.

I don't need to add much more to what has been said on this thread except that GW is a game for people of all ages and we should keep that in mind.

Happy gaming people!!!

Guess I'll still be able to complete my collection even though I'm down to my last few ks...

as i said to you ingame a few mins ago, this is prob because it's the early stages of the canthan map, and max dmg stuff will be found a little later on. think ascalon ---> LA ---> onwards.

I'm kinda sad... I mean, it's obviously great that good items get into reach of the lower level players and that trading becomes less elitist. However, do you guys really think this will be the end of trading and that every fabulous item will become dirt cheap soon? I've already spotted some perfect daggers and mid-level new greens on Auction that aren't even going for the 100k+ that I was expecting (just because of the thrill of them being new).

I'm not looking to make a shitload of money off someone's back, but I love to trade in the mid-range, buy something for a reasonable price and make a few k profit, or feeling the thrill of getting a good drop, establishing a value for it, determining whether to keep it or sell it, and so forth. There's many fun things to do in the game and trading is but one of them, but I still hope that part won't go away.
