Vizunah Square (Foreign Quarter) *SPOILERS*

Gosh, met with another bug, the mission wouldn't start T_T
I swear the mission is cursed.

Ok, finished it on 6th attempt. Having two teams of humans is critical. The opponents on the 'local' side scale up with the level of the locals, but the 'foreign' side stays constant. Skipping the cinematics can cause bugs; just grin and bear it...
16 human players can kill anything fast...monster healers are irrelevant - just keep togo & menhlo alive by staying fairly close.

I think the closest I've gotten to beating it was when the other team was a hench team, and we lucked out and they were able to keep Togo alive as we got there, but they all died after the battle though.
We were halfway through the third massive area before we just got overwhelmed. Our monk left right after finding out the other team was only henchies, so we only had Jamei as our healer (*cringe*). If only she didn't leave, I'd have beaten it and not spend another 3 hours getting bugged/screwed by henchies T_T

Until reading this and other threads on the subject, I had NO IDEA that you were supposed to get a second team. I wandered over from Lion's Arch with my lvl 18 w/mo and did it with henchies because I thought you had to do it to get to Shing Jea...
...No second team spawned, and we got wiped (did get to the final battle though), and I then managed to instead explore my way to The Marketplace & docks (then to Shing Jea to get a Tengu mask - yay!).
So many waves of afflicted...

Also, I almost did it ( Foreign team had a MM ) I was level 12 with full henchie team...
BUT
Togo stayed at the first place, and there's a gate that he needs to be open=> bug ftl

I did it twice. First with my sin (assassin) and another with my Monk from tyria.
All i can say is, this mission req. MM, Echo SS/mark of pain, monks and Rt with Selter/Recuperation/ Union. and pretty much you go thru like a breeze.
Play it like GvG(boon/prot) or HoH ( wards) ftw~!!

How many people beat this mission already?
I've tried it with henchies, but it seems like its impossible.
I've tried it with humans, the best I can do is reach the second "fun" part.
Those who beat it, got any advice to share?
Thank you. Me (a critical hit barrager [A/R]) and a guildie (a healing rit) took a team of 6 henchies. The other guy (a random W/Mo) had a team of 7 henchies. We easily beat the mission.
For tips. Stay in the center of each infected spawn area. When new waves come take out the Ritualists first, as they will rez teammates. Then take out the monks. Kill the rest in the order you see fit (eles and azn's are particularly deadly). If you're going with humans, try to get teammates that can attack more than one enemey at once (ie nuker, MM's, barragers). Hope taht helps!

did this yesterday about 10 times. got it done only when canthan people didnt die.
Apparently there arent enough people with preorders that are willing to make characters that start in Cantha (of which, the majority are A and Rt anyway). This leads to imbalanced teams on the canthan side.
If the other teams dies you can't res them, which is a problem. Only if they are alive will the mission work. Sadly, many times the Canthan side dies because they are mostly ritualists and assassins and a smattering of the core professions.

Done it with Ranger + all henchies. Other team was an assassin and rest henchies too.
Do not run ahead. Follow the NPC (Mhenlo or Togo) you need to protect. Stay close to your cargo and the henchies do a good job of keeping them alive. If you run to the first cinematic, you run the risk of "bugging" the mission since the NPCs cannot traverse the streets well.

I've done it twice on my assassin (first time, with mostly players and a few henchmen, using assassin skills exclusively. Second time, with one other player and henchmen... there were four tyrian players this time, using my much better build with some monk skills)
It's pretty challenging, but I don't think ridiculously so. After all, you've got SIXTEEN people going at it. I think it's extremely fun. I still have to get the third completion level for it though...

Yeah its a fun mission with 16 ppl around. Its not difficult with a full 16 ppl team. Problem is that from the local side a lot of loners enter the mission with only henchies. This wouldnt be a problem as long as one lives with a res, but most of the time the loner isnt a healer or didnt bring resses, so the henchies are dead and stay that way.
Even with 8 ppl you can complete the mission, but you need to have a good balanced team.
The bug can be evaded by NOT skipping the movie.
Can somebody explain why the foreign quarter is crowded with Wammo's? Not JUST wammo's but real, traditional MENDING Wammo's.... Is that the build to play these days? because else I am trowing GW away immeadiatly... (sorry for the good wammo's around...)

Mission BUG:
after about 15 attempts at the mission, i did it with my party made out of henchies and got paired with another team of 8 real ppl taking care of mhenlo.
we killed ALL the mobs Togo stopped somewere in the middle of a room. we wasted 2 hours for nothing. he got stuk there and we couldn't finish. very very frustrating!!!!!!!!

I had two cases of Togo/Menhlo getting stuck. As far as I can tell, it only happens if you skip the cinematics.
I think this mission is getting better because the local teams are getting stronger - when people rushed to this mission as level 14 or whatever they got insta-whacked by the level 20 enemies, who appear to offset the 'foreign side'.

DONT SKIP THE MOVIE!!!!
thats what causing the bug... its explained in several threads, and was about the first bug report of the game.
And its easy, just be the only one not skipping

I seriously wonder how the hell the people who beat the game on the first day did this mission. The must have gotten really lucky and either Togo survived with all henchies on the local side or they got some competant people to keep Togo alive for the local side.
Either, way, should be better now as there's more Canthan players doing the mission now.

The first time I tried, the other team was a human with henchies. The human must have dropped, but miraculously, Mhenlo survived (or maybe when the human dropped, the opponents went away?). When we'd defeated all our opponents, we started running toward the Mhenlo area. Here comes Mhenlo. Great! Escort him to Togo, see cut scene, but afterwards, there's only our team. We thought perhaps the seven henchies would join us, but no, we had to restart. So yeah, a bugged mission for sure. I guess Anet didn't account for leavers and all of the other things that can go "wrong".

i did this mission at a Ritualist and 7 henchies. at the first fight when you meet up with menhlo, i noticed an item laying on the ground and it was not for me. im like WTF is this, did i accidentally grab a real player instead of a henchie??!!
then i noticed the other players and was like, ohhhhhhhhhhh
we went through it pretty easy the first time. i guess im pretty thankful for that considering everyones talk about how hard it was for them.

Now that local quarter isn't flooded with level 14 ass'es its easy, and quite probably the funnest mission I've done (thunderhead a distant second) since purchasing GW. I did make a monk just because I couldnt beat this one with an A/N in the preview day (either the other team would lose menhlo or I'd get swamped and die (bad - causing my team of henchies to do stupid things) - I ended up using vipers defense and that works really well for this, hit and run.
Monk/Rt - smite/restore FTW

I did it earlier today. 8 Real People Foreign team, a Rit and 7 Henchies for Local team. Once we got past the first fight and bugs and all, it went quite smoothly. Tip: Well of Blood and Well of Power work very well! We had only one or two deaths. Since you're going to be standing there while the Afflicted charge you, you might as well set up camp by putting Wells down. Constant health and energy regen.
sir lockt
Yup wells and wards work very nice. Also minion masters are really worth their money, because they keep attacking during the movie and are just a bunch of hit points for the enemy to take down, besides the vital Togo and mhenlo
Raziel665
After about 7 tries at the local quarter, we set up 2 Alliance teams timing the entry. It was insanly easy, we may have had a few deaths, but we got the mission in about 21 mins. My team had a bunch of assassins and even an Rt i FoW armor.
Alliance ftw.
Alliance ftw.

I did this with a friend (Mo/Me boon and R/Me, he brought EoE and knew exactly when and when not to use it) an hour or so ago in a balanced PUG. Local team was a Taiwanese guy (NO ENGLISH!) playing ritualist with seven henchies. Very fun. Got Expert's (26:xx), went back later and picked up Master's (24:xx).
Random notes:
Do not use EoE when there are still Canthan NPCs alive
Skipping cutscene does nothing (we didn't glitch)
"Charge!" on a warrior is somewhat useful for making Mhenlo walk faster.
A MM helps dispatch the Am Fah quickly.

Has anyone completed this mission at master yet?
I've played it 7 times now, wiped only once.
Completed it 4 times at Expert, 2 times Standard.
Master is looking absolutely impossible at the moment. (assuming you need a 20 minute time to get Master completion)
I think I'm going to give up on that Mission title

It's (under?) 25:00. Notice how I said I picked up Expert's in 26:xx the first time, off by a minute or so...
Just to quash any possible rumors: cutscenes do not count toward that time. The person that I knew and went with into the PUGs said that they did count, but I'm fairly sure that scenes didn't add time to the score.
I haven't tried going with a warder/well'er (well, you might get a warder henchman on the Local team), but it's not vital. Nor is having more than two monks in the party (you've got Mhenlo and at least another monk over on the Local team).

Finally got to the local quarter with my friends and I on the Canthan side. First time bugged, 2nd time beat it in 25:03...just 3 seconds away from Masters T_T
But really, if the local side can keep Togo alive and it doesn't bug, the mission is a breeze.

Feh. I've only tried this mission once, and I already RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing hate it. I took 7 henches, and spawned by Togo. I had no clue what was going on, except that Togo and Mhenlo had to live. So I followed Togo, breezed through the first big fight in the square - but then Togo and Mhenlo separate, and both get jumped by assassins. I followed Togo, as he's attacked by assassins and I figured the other team can take care of a few assassins and keep Mhenlo alive, but Mhenlo dies and it's GG.
And of course I got a "u idiot n00b" from the other team.
I play with henches because I don't want the aggravation of PUGs, and now I'm FORCED to team with some random noob?
RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO that.
Officially the worst designed mission I've played in GW.

This mission becomes insanely easy with an EOE and symbiosis ranger. Have the ranger go max wilderness survival. Have someone bring an enchantment - tainted flesh works well here.
When the fighting starts, apply the enchantments. Meanwhile, the ranger will spam oath shot and (re)place EOE and symbiosis wherever needed.
Then watch all the afflicted vanish from your map.

I gave the mission another try. The mission starts, again me and henches with Togo. I message the other team that "I've got Togo, don't worry about it, just keep Mhenlo alive". Mission starts, I start spanking afflicted butt - and suddenly there's a message that the other player has left the game. Ten seconds later Mhenlo is dead. He didn't even get to the square.
The afflicted are pussys. The real opposition in this mission is the human players on the other team.
I really, really, really, hate this mission.

I really, really, really, hate this mission. I'm with you, Numa. Tried it over 10 times tonight, probably 15, with a decent PUG on the Foreign side. Got teamed up with all hench Local teams every time. Togo died every attempt.
This is ridiculous.

Yeah....the funny thing for me with this mission was, that the first time i did it with my ranger , i didnt even know it was a co-op and I managed to just do it with henchis.
This mission IMHO is very doable with henchis if you're ranged, though i'm not sure about the success rate as a close quarters melee character.
Some tips for using Pure Henchi team.
I'd defintely recommend that if you're gonna use a full henchi team, it made life much easier if the other team were also henchi's.
The thing that I found most helpful was the position on the image below. I found that if i just stood at the top of the stairs, as a caster - Ele / Necro / Monk / Ritualist / Ranger, this area offered me the best range for assisting everyone else and dealing damage.
Its best to have your henchi's around you and attacking the top area where most of the ritualists, and IMO trouble is due to their spirits.
When you see Master Togo, who stands in the middle, start losing health , just simply use Control + Shift and target the mob attacking him. for those who dont konw what control + shift does, it targets an enemy for your henchi's to attack without you having to be in the attacking range.
I only found out about this within the last 2 months, even though i'v played GW for almost a year. Its really good stuff, makes all missions easier to hench.
I did this mission 4 times today, 2 cantha char and 2 tyrian char.
Necro is by far the easiest. For all you necro MM's out there, you shouldnt even bother to waste time yelling LFG or whatever. Just grab full henchi group and OWN it like every other mission.
Just for Necroes
The key with the necro is just to always stand next to mhenlo as he is an awesome healer. All you need to do is just spam order of pain, blood of the master, and summon bone fiend.
I find that also i'v never had the bug where togo gets stuck after the 3rd area when i hench this. But i had this almost everytime i did it with people. hmmmm......
You should be about level 16 when you do this mission. I had alot of money stashed from Prophecies, so i shelled out a Death Superior rune. IMO max out death and stuff the rest into Soul reaping (should be level 7-8 if you did both 15 attribute quests in Shin Jea). Expert Tyrian Necroes can prob use better skills, but these were all i could buy as a Cantha char.
Yeah Just wanted to contribute my 2 (long winded cents) as i see alot of frustrated people in Vizunah Square (US Dis1) and alot of people getting turned down because they aren't 1337 (because retarded group leaders think that your level as a char fully represents your skill as a player)
Hope this helps, i managed to get Masters 2nd time round with my MM full henchi team on both sides. First time was a bit slower since I kept stopping to heal minions.
i'v posted some screens to help.

I made it thru with a third character. Rangers like myself with EoE+Symbiosis+Barrage AND MM's made it a slaughter - the red vanished so fast I would target something and have it vanish before landing a shot.
I also captured Broadhead Arrow

Gave it one last try last night and got it to work. Had a pretty good PUG on the Foreign side and a hench party on the local. The Ranger on the local side knew what he/she was doing, kept Togo alive (Healing Spring, perhaps?), and we made it through the Am Fan quickly enough to trigger the dialogue. I also capped Mind Burn from the Ele boss.
Does anyone know what elite the Mesmer boss carries in this mission? I didn't get to see it.
EDIT: Never mind, it's Stolen Speed from The Afflicted Li Yun. Man, that elite skills thread in this forum is awesome.

Fertile season/Oathshot trapper worked great, but we died at the last dragon mesmer thing!! aahhhh! togo died somehow =(

Well, I hate to break the mould, but I adore this mission. I've done it twice on the foreign side with my MM and once on the Canthans with my A/N (well forget the N, as she was pure A build).
As MM just standing somewhere out of the way and pulling minion after minion in the corpse rich environment was fun fun fun.
As an A, sticking recall on our ritualist and using shadow steps to splat the afflicted casters and escape was even more fun. Ok.. I died a couple of times, I suck... but it was a new build, I realise now I was running out of energy to keep my recall running. It's a learning curve. On which note, be nice to your assassin, or ritualist for that matter, it's all a bit new. So long as they have the right idea, anyway - go ahead and bitchslap a tanking Zin
.
As people have said, the secret is in the other team, well and your team. I've been lucky enough to put together good PUG's for my side, but my experiences have varied with the other team.
80% of 1man+7hench teams have gone down, but then again a good player can keep Togo alive. We all were pleased to congratulate a 1+7 player on a mission completion one time.
8man teams are NO guarantee. Quote.... "You mean the other team are ALL dead?" Apparently they had forgotten to bring res. Go figure.
In summary, take responsibility for your own PUG to begin with. Get a good balanced team... then... be prepared to take 3-5 attempts at it, most will only last 10 mins as Togo dies quickly. By being patient you will get a good team on the other side sooner or later and then you will truly enjoy this mission with it's epic combats (remember it's designed for 16 players). Also, there's something way cool about a cutscene with so many players in at the end.
As people have said, the secret is in the other team, well and your team. I've been lucky enough to put together good PUG's for my side, but my experiences have varied with the other team.

I did this mission last night with my Rit. We had a full human team on the Canthan side, with the exception of Sister Tai. And she was the only monk. We had a restoration rit, but she set that up at that last minute.
To our amazement, when Mhenlo arrived, he arrived with a FULL henchie team. Not a human player in sight. As one of our team members so aptly put it, "?". We went on to beat the mission.

Interesting...
We did have a 1+7 team, where the "1" quit after hearing us moan about hench teams. Togo died. In seconds.

This is a frustrating mission but has alot of great fighting, I was stuck here
for four days, experienced all the bugs, drops, and leavers, I'm on the local
side. But did it last night in 29minutes and got the bonus, I am an Assassin
atm, what I did was when we meet up with the other team, I picked out
who I thought looked like the best warrior after watching them a little bit,
and never left his side, where-ever he went I went, we slashed our thru the
afflicted like butter, o-yeah that MM was doing a hell of job to.
and I gave a great big TY to everyone after the mish.....that one felt good....

I was quite surprised to meet another team when I had a go... I was running my usual blood necro + 7 henchies setup and was escorting Mhenlo at a slow pace pace... Togo was getting beaten up and healed a lot after a while so I hussled my way to him and met a L13 assassin leading another team of henchmen. The assassin died a few times but I was dropping L18 bloodwells everywhere and none of my guys died... it seems that my wells helped his team a lot too and it went very smoothly and was a lot of fun. I discovered Light of Dwayna won't work on the second party though, that's kinda tough luck for them
