90% of what i hear on the topic of 'new classes' is that assassins are gona suck and that rits are gona be awesome..

So why am i seeing somany more assassins than rits? I was kind of happy about this, i was going to make an assassin and be rare and cool and already have all the skills and whatnot before people caught on to their potential... but somany assassins. Im thinking about making a rit now ><

Also, assassins combat animations and run are terrible=p Ive always said this, the idea is fine, but they totaly implimented it wrong, assassin moves and fights like a hunchbacked gorilla, only an extreemly skinny one. Not very graceful at all.

Dammit, assassins can have a trashy name, but ive got to think up a fancy one for my rit now ;_; i hate naming characters.

I went with an assassin because I didn't during the FPE and reading the skills got me curious enough to try. So far... fun. Have to master the hit-and-run technique... it is definitely a unique concept to the game's melee combat.

I thought everybody knew that assassins would be the chapter 2 Warrior/Monk in terms of popularity o_O

Just because there are a lot of them, it doesnt make them awesome.

Its like an elemenalist, there are a lot of them...but they arent the most effective character.

Message board contributors aren't representative of the whole player population. I expect there are a lot more assassins than rits because they just seem "cooler". Probably in the same way that there are so many more warriors than mesmers, even if they aren't neccessarily more powerful.

I guess i make a rit then -_-

That one assassin looks cool. The first hair style, the first face. White hair and the third skin color over from top left.

I like the one rit hairstyle though. Warriors can get it also. Top right with light blond hair, makes the rit look realy fuzzy in the starting armor. Like, some kind of nifty fuzzy soft thing.. rits are realy soft

They will quickly be the ones complaining about armor being too weak, skills too weak, ragequit and dust off the W/Mo.

The remaining few will hold back a little until battle's engaged and strike like the cobra at selected targets in a deadly ballet of cunning and skill.

Man, I hope I'm not in the first group. I don't even have a W/Mo to fall back on.

Nothing beats conversations that begin with...

"Wait! go back I forgot to put 8 points into healing"
"WHY ARENT I GETTING HEALD!!"
"HEAL HEAL NOW!@"
"I'm weilding a sundering katana of foritude"
"OMG I look like narut.. whatever his name is"
"I don't have rez"
"I have 55 Health out of 55 Health"

It works both ways too. I've also started an assassin and already I'm getting prejudice - people seem to assume that every wammo moron out there has rolled an assassin and treat them as such.

I think assasins really got skills better between the feb and march events. More effective, but ritualist is still for me, assasin kinda have an invincible for certain amount of time specialty, and that owns if you as a rit upgrade their weapons.

I dont see why everyone hates warriors/assassins....just cuz some of them can be idiots and aggro everything. Ive seen casters do the exact same, but nobody says anything to them.

Ya, people are just closed minded sort of and go with the flow without checkin the facts. I was standing in the Marketplace and some noob was totally ranting about how cool he thought factions was. He eventually said something like "and ya, the Mesmers here totally own!" And ya, for those of you who don't know about mesmers, the irony here is that mesmers have always totally owned. As far as people not playing ritualists. It's a strange gameplay and people aren't all patient enough to learn it. They'd rather pwn-solo anything they can get their hands on. But ya on the starter island forming groups is so hard. You try to look for at least a rit with healing, but you end up with invitations from at least 5 assassins every time you spam "Forming group for xxxxx!"

That's not what he said...He said he hears all this talk of people hating assassins, yet he sees so many of them being created. He said the assassins have potential because of his observation of their skills, not because of his observation of how many ppl created them.
And don't you go bashing eles. Eles pwn hard, and have been buffed a bit in factions even.

Yea, I ran into a lot of people in the cities and some in my guild who don't particularly care for assassins. I will admit, if you get hit, you are pretty much toast, but this is the way of the assassin class. They are made for high quick dmg and evasion, not for standing there tanking hits like a warrior, or a earth ele. This is one of the reasons I chose a ranger as my secondary so I have more defensive and evasion stances. Plus, adding more conditions and removing them is always nice.

I made a new assassin and I'm loving it. I've always been more of caster-focused person--I don't even have a warrior anymore, though I might make another for Factions--so the assassin's style really suits me. I can take a lot of the hit-and-run and aggro dodging skills I've learned as a caster and trap ranger and apply them directly to playing assassin. So far I've been completely thrashing everything I've come across, especially after getting Golden Lotus Strike; energy management for the win.

I'm playing as an assassin, so that I can understand the class. I've played as ritualist on both preview events, and I think it's a very interesting, strong profession. Assassins left me underwhelmed, but I figured that's preobably because I really didn't understand how they're supposed to be played. So I thought, hey, why not play through Factions as an assassin? You never played pVe as warrior, might as well try a melee class for a change...

And you know what? I'm loving the assassin.
