Hi,

I haven't played GW for a month (video card died). Just got factions and basically a new rig to game with. I have a few questions about merging my existing account(s).

1) I did the preorder through Frys Electronics, but I am not sure If the key they gave me with the preorder ever did anything. When I tried to install the preorder Factions disc/key code, it said the game was already installed and never asked for the code. Where do I input the preorder code to get whatever thing the preorder gives us?

2)Can I merge with any account or do I have to have the key code from the original game box? I have a 2nd account, but lost the key code.

3)Can we still trade with people who don't upgrade to Factions? I have a bunch of stuff on my 2nd account and would like to leave most of it there if I can still transfer stuff later.

4)If Factions accounts can't trade with original GW accounts, what materials are desirable to bring over to factions? I have various amounts of Ectos, Shards, Rubys, Sapphires, Steel, Iron and Wood that I will have to transfer if needed. I especially want to know if it will be worth transferring over 3k steel and 10k iron for the new armors.

As far as the Frys deal... The game is $50, but it comes with a full retail box of City of Villains ($40). You should be able to sell it for at least $20 and that would make it the best deal for Factions that I've seen.

Think I found the answer about transferring items! Great news for me since I won't have to worry what to bring and what to leave.

Will I be able to team up with Assassin and Ritualist players if I don't buy Factions?

While you will not be able to create an Assassin or Ritualist unless you purchase Guild Wars Factions, you will, of course, be able to interact with those who own Guild Wars Factions when you join cooperative ventures or competitive matches.

Can I trade my Factions items to those who do not own Factions?

Yes, you may trade items. However, such items cannot be equipped if they are customized items or if they are pieces of armor, which are always customized to an individual character.

All that was on the pre-order CD was the game client. If you have already got GW installed then you wouldn't need the game client installed again - the same client is used for both Prophecies and Faction's campaigns.

The CD-Key that was proivided in the pre-order kit would have given you access to the head-start event which would have let you play ~24 hours before everyone else. It will also allow you to play for another ~2 1/2 days if you don't have your full Faction's key yet. The pre-order key will also give you access to 2 pre-order items - one for the assassin and one for the ritualist.

What you need to do is associate your pre-order key with an account. When you log into your account there is an option to "Edit Account".. click that and then select "Manage Access Key's" (or similar..) and that will let you then add your pre-order key to that account.

Please note - you can only attach the pre-order key to ONE account. If you want to receive the pre-order items on more than 1 account you will need to find another pre-order key to associate with the other accounts.

If you created the account then it's CD-Key will have been associated with it already. It doesn't matter if you lost the key sometime afterwards - if you can log in and play with both accounts then your good to go.

You can associate the pre-order key with either of those accounts or create a whole new account.. but it can only be used ONCE.

You can also merge a faction's CD-Key with either account or create a whole seperate account for it's own use - as with the pre-order key you can only do this ONCE.

Once you have associated your faction's key with an account (whether a new account or merged with a pre-existing Prophecies account) you are stuck with whatever you decided to do - it can't be used on your other account(s).. if you want both accounts to have access to Faction's you will need to buy 2 Faction's CD-Key's for them both.

You can trade items between Faction's and Prophecies characters. Prophecies characters can equip Faction's items unless they have been customized. The damage/energy/etc they get from them will be governed by the required attribute.. just the same as Prophecies items are handled right now.

Not sure exactly what materials will be needed for armor's and such, but so far I've seen cloth, triangle leather (gahg, can't remember the name.. sorry) & Iron required by Ritualist & Assassin armor's.. and I'd assume steel & such would be required for high level warrior armor's.. *shrugs*

If you by "put my factions cd key in my original GW game", mean "click Create Account or Add Access Key, and then check Add the Access Key to an existing Guild Wars account, followed by your account information", then yes. If you however check "Create a new Guild Wars account", it's not merged. Then you get 2 accounts. One with access to Prophecies, and one with access to Factions.
