Ok people, we're going to settle this right now...

ETTINS ARE NOT NERFED

I just spent about an hour farming and this is what I got:

10 golds, 14 purples, 5 blues and 20 whites dropped in total. Out of the pauldrens that were junk, I salvaged over 300 tanned hides. I also got a gold flat bow (not shown) that had a perfect 20% Deathbane grip, which I was able to salvage (hip...hip...hurray!)

Sorry I made another thread about this, but I just really felt it needed a thread all by itself. If the mods disagree, please move it.

And yes, I'm well aware of the fact people are now going to farm the hell out of them...milk it while it lasts...

I think your officially the luckiest RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO on this game. I farmed them for 30minutes and got 2 shitty little Sup Illusions while you grab yourself over 140k in sup absoprtions alone (till they drop to bugger all anyway).

Well, this is the "normal" amout of golds I usually get, so I don't think it has anything to do with luck. Bare in mind though, the amount of golds you get over a certain period of time is directly related to the build you're using. Faster you kill them, faster you get rich...

P.S. Warriors are one of the slowest builds you can use

As i don't know any other builds i don't exactly have much choice. Also i think these drops are bullshit, an entire run through Nebo, NKP then back through Nebo yielded me 6 purples and a ton of shit.

Don't farm Nebo. Bounce back and forth between Nebo portal and Scoundrels Rise portal. Nebo Ettins don't drop nearly as many golds as NKP.

If you stick with Ettins for an hour (as boring as it is), you can get a lot of Golds, though never this much. So yeah, BS in a way, as I think it took a bit longer than an hour.

Yeah this wouldn't suprise me at all. Now that all gold pauldrins = sup runes, we'll all be getting tons of sup runes ettin farming, which will drive the prices down.

Good if you need em, bad if you just want to sell. For that reason, my ettin farming will go down.

I have a feeling all the anti-farm code just got reset too.

And yes, ettin farming was temporarily nerfed, then gold/purp armors didn't always have runes (see latest update notes), and now it's back up to full speed.

Neither do NKP.... thats probably becuase all i seem to get on this game are f*cking PURPLE ARMOURS!!! Surely i'm on for a record here, thats another 3 purple armours in 10 minutes.

I think you may have stolen all the sup armours out here for the next month. Gone to the Scoundrels portal and back through NKD, now i have a grand total of 7 purple armours this run (compared to my 1 white)

Yeah i've seen those threads, but i really can't see them been profitable anymore. With sup absorp/vigours dropping that often they're gonna fall to about 5k before long.

Seems like a good ratio this run, 3 whites, 8 purples, 1 gold.

Edit: OK finished it now

A few more whites, 13 purples, 1 gold, am i just unlucky or something?

I just farmed Ettins with the Rust/Frost build since I posted this, with not one gold, and that was about 50 minutes. I shouldve atleast gotten 8 out of the 10 you got, giving you a 10 minute leeway.

I just use Battle Rage and tank everything, should probably get my self a sword with an elemental mod...

I think Anet really did nerf ettin farming, not in the lack of runes sense, the sense that they've just made every single rune in the game worthless. Sup Absorptions are falling in price so fast, 43k last night, 39k this morning.

Ok, you tell me how I can "prove" it and I will? What don't you believe, that I got three Sup. Absorbs or that I can get 10-20 golds in an hour?

Yes, the Absorbs must have been luck, but then again, your chances are now 1:26 of getting one instead of the previous 1:52. And Anet specifically said they increased the chances of getting both Absorbs and Vigors. It's even listed in their update.

The last 30 or so gold armors I've identified have turned out as major runes, even ones from other mobs than ettins. No, I am not kidding.

Ok, some of you W/Mos are a little thinkheaded. Like I said, it's kinda hard for me to prove without taking one of you along with me, but that sure as hell isn't going to happen

I just farmed them for about and hour again and here are the results. As you can see from my screenshots, there were about 3-4 HoH announcements. If any of you were on for the past hour you will recognize them hopefully. I didn't post the complete log, but this should at least provide you with some evidence.

Yup, that's another Superior Absorption...

While some of you don't believe me, I'm going to be single-handedly reduce the runes prices at the trader...LOL!

The standard geomancer tank build works fine for me (E/Mo). I did this run today for an hour and got 4 superiors including a sup divine favour. No sup absorption though.

i take it that build kills the ettins super fast.... meaning u have a better chance in an HOUR to get superior runes...

and yes, i noticed the sup absorp drop dramatically last night.. from 60k to 35k... perhaps it went down even more then that... I just happened to check the rune trader out when it was at 35k.

nice drops, makes me wanna go ettin farming again.

lol you must kill fast. My R/Me does pretty well against Ettins (kill all in Nebo/NKP/Nebo - counts as one run to me) and it takes me maybe 45 mins to do that. Very nice indeed
