but, it will take a long time, the melee guys aren't a problem and will drop in no time, but the guys that use bows, on some you'll have to put SS whilst they're not in a group, which could slow you a bit down and offcourse takes more time

I've been farming nahpui alot hte past few days... I'm not sure what the expected return as far as $$$ per hour on a 55 goes, I'm pretty new at it, but I started at a little under 2K and 1 key, and about 2.5 hours later I had a full stack of bones and feathers and about 15 steel ingots vaulted, 7 keys and 5K.
The mobs in nah pui DO drop celestials, just infrequently.

I've got a buddy of mine who is trying 55ing on a N/Mo and seems to have considerably more trouble with this run than I do (I'm running spear of light/smite/scourge healing)... I realize the monk runes will help a good deal, but I stomp through the zone like I own the place, and he's struggling with groups of 2-3 mobs. Player skill may play a small part in it, but can anyone offer suggestions for necro 55ing, that may not be obvious to a newer 55 monk?
Also if there is a different skill set he could use that would include a counter for the star light heals? (I know there are some necro skills that weaken healing, just not sure if they work well enough to matter)

I cant farm outside The Marketplace. The Messmers are killing me, the always interput when i put prot spirit or healing breeze. Gash, I only could killed the ele boss and nothing dropped anyway.
I am a 55hp ele/mo fire dmg.
The Naphui Quearter mission its not so hard, and also got 2 celestial weapons from chests, but no monster dropped one .
I only need to try the Aspenwood area.

please remember that this is 55 monk farming for a reason I understand these can be done with others, but if you have off-topic questions on other 55 or farming builds not related to 55 monking, please create a new thread or pm me and I'll try to assist as much as possible even if I don't know a lot about other farming methods.

Hi,

Just thought I would let you know been trying out Nahpui Quarter, You were right about the Lights they are a real pain in the ****.

After a few tries with various builds I tried this one and it works nicely

Protective Spirit, Healing Breeze, Shield of Judgement, Bonnetti's Defence,
Holy Strike, Scourge Healing, Balt Spirit, Mending.

Attrib's
Heal 9, Smit 15, Pro 10, Divine 13, Axe 4 (for 20% Enc)

When you come up against the Lights, get up close and hit them with Scourge of Healing...

Then hit them with Holy Strike.

They seem to love their healing more than their attacking spells coz they then spam

Wielders Boon

Which means thay die quick, with 2 Lights just hit first one as above and move to 2nd one and do the same..

If you see them about to use their big attack just hit ps the extra hp from divine negate the hit !!!!

Enjoy

Ok i just made about 3 runs, I first tryed it at 55. Not so good. Nightmare weapon hits for 50, so next run i used my -20 focus. It worked like a charm, The key is not to swing at them when star lights are in the mob. swinging triggers the nightmare weapon, or it just wears off and hits you once.I back them into a corner and zealots fire them to dealth. i use the same old build i used from the desert, PS,HB,SoJ,Zf,Bsig,BathSp,Mending,EssBond. maxed out smite then split the other points to get around 20 seconds prot, and 7 pips breeze.i cleared all but 2 boss, mesmer, and necro(avoid them) i pull star birds with a bow to clear around necro boss, and mesmer boss. I only have 1 problem with this run. What the heck am i going to do with the 185 feathers i got ?....lol....I guess my assassin can just carry them around

I started my 55hp in Factions even though I own Prophecies because I figured I could get to level 20 faster. My question is whether I can get Protective Spirit in Factions from a skill trainer or capture it, rather than completing all the quests necessary to getting in Prophecies. Any suggestions?

every now and then when i have time yes.

having to deal with a lot of things now days:
graduation, getting ready for college, getting a job, modding the forums, managing my new guild, and trying to keep sane all at the same time

When things cool down a bit I'll be sure to update. But as I said, yes, I have it saved in a word document and I'm updating little by little.

I'm wondering, do the majority of you guys kill all the bosses on a run? It takes way too long for me to kill the bosses, so I usually end up skipping them. Should I take the extra minutes to kill them or is it not worth the extra time? Thanks. And I'm so glad someone brought out this spot. I'm pretty sure I don't feel like ever seeing a Mounatin Troll in my life ever again...

There's a huge amount more to farm in arborstone than just that small amount. If you go to the left, there's at least 10 more groups that you can go through.

well the thing is, you could take your time doing that or you could just rezone and hit the ones up front rather than travel all the way around.

Besides, I find that my inventory fills up quickly with this run so that is all that I need to do.

Great guide! now I just need to get my 55 to cantha

but i've got a question: the major rune has now been brought to -35hp, right ? well, everybody knows that 75 - 35 = 40
that's a prety big difference between major and sup huh ? so I think it won't take long before a-net will lower the sup runes. making 55 a real rarity ( I mean, no new will come I bet there are over 50.000 55's atm )
so wouldn't it be smart to buy 100K on sup monks atm ? I bet that if they get nerfed to let's say -50hp, the prices of a -75hp will go 80K or more. ( the only thing that would make the prices lower, are the solo UW w/n builds >< I think it won't take long till they get realy realy popular )

just an idea...tell me what u think of this

Not a bad idea, however, the idea behind the major rune update was that not alot of people were using major runes because it took of so much life. Everyone used to use either minor or superior runes. Anet just wanted people to start using major runes more as well.

It could be useful, however the update may never happen. It's your call.

I've had some luck with the undergrowth outside braur with my 55 necro, if the run goes off it's fast and nice change of pace, but occassionally, either the kirin or the gaki, not sure which are using a skill that is one hitting me. Doesn't happen very often, and it's def a fun change from farming trolls.

I'm very confused, as I only got factions yesterday, how do you get to arborstone? Playing through missions? Also, on a Cantha map I saw that arborstone was in kurzick, do you have to be on the kurzick side or something like that ? Sorry if it's a stupid question.

yes, you play through missions to get to arborstone. Yes it is in Kurzick side, no you don't have to be allied kurzick to get there, but you will want to spend all your luxon faction before going to kurzick to keep from losing it or wasting the kurzick faction that you are going to earn.

I just brought my 55 Monk to Cantha and read this thread so I tried out a few spots. Here's what I got in about 1 - 2 hrs of farming each area.

Tanglewood Copse - Got lotsa tanned hides, blue/purp/gold runes. Got a gold amber bow and a gold staff. All this in about 1 1/2 hrs.

Naphui Mission - Got basically nothing in abt an hour. Lotsa junk drops, a few purp weaps and lousy chests. Got bored waiting for mish to start each time I died from the star lights.

Wajunn Bazar - Here is the best area IMO. In about 2 hrs of farming just those first 6 Jade Brotherhood as soon as you get out of the Marketplace, I've gotten lotsa blue/purp/gold runes and cloth & silk. I got a jadite shard, a gold staff, and a gold platinum blade that salvaged a 20/20 sundering sword hilt. I sold the hilt in under 2 mins for 65k!

Yes, it's a pain going in and out of the Marketplace just to get to these first 6 all the time, but they're the ones that dropped the best stuff when I did the area a few times.

Keep posting new hot spots cuz farming is far from dead in Cantha.

I'm curious on what Armor I should use. I'm thinking of Tattoos.

I think you mentioned that you used a Divine Favor Scalp. Is that recommended?

Thanks.

Got myself a new set of Ascetics' Shing Jea armor. Only cost like 500G. But still have the expected energy. Plus, looks better on a female monk than tatoo.

Any advice for farming Arborstone with a 55 N/Mo?

I have: Curses 16, Blood Magic 5, Soul Reaping 5, Healing 9, Protection 9

Protective Spirit, Healing Breeze, Guardian, Spiteful Spirit, Shadow of Fear, Mending, Balthazar's Spirit, Essence Bond

I have tried also with Insidious Parasite and Reckless Haste in place of Guardian and Shadow of Fear.

When I try: I can get one spawn, and they don't hit enough to give me enough energy to maintain my enchantments and keep the curses up on them.

If I get more than one spawn, then I will get mobbed until they overwhelm my regen with conditions or just sheer numbers.

I've been able to kill exactly six wardens here out of over a dozen tries. It feels like a complete waste of time.

It will be insanely hard in arborstone to fight wardens - I die often, except that I have the knockdown of SoJ to keep me alive, and bonettis can help in the recharges. Divine Favour is also insane. To cut a long story short, I suspect 55necro's can't farm arborstone.

actually, Arborstone is VERY easy to farm on a 55 necro.. SS, IP, desecrate

I'll give this build a try, then:
PS, HB, DE, SS, IP, Mending, BS, EB

If it works, great. Hope the spiking from DE ends the fight fast enough that I don't die...

And the answer to that is...no way in hell. Perhaps you could explain your strategy? Desecrate recharges too slowly to provide much damage, nothing provides additional mitigation. I'm still either fighting one spawn and run out of energy, or three spawns and die from spikes. I would like to know how this becomes VERY easy.
