I did a search and found nothing remotely active like this suggestion:
I am suggesting that Anet implement a way for us to get a preview of what Armor looks like before we pay to craft it and waste gold on something we may not like.
I mean come on who buys clothes without trying them on or at least getting to look at them on a rack / hanger?
So would you like Anet to create a system for Armorers / Collecters to give us a Preview of the Armor before we pay to have it Crafted? I know I would..../signed.
Preview Armor before paying for crafting....

It should look like when you are buying a cape!
ESPECIALLY since factions armors have many options, we need a better interface for buying and previewing armors.
The single list of items grouped via types isnt cutting it Anet
We need ability to sort the armors we are buying. It gets CONFUSING.

I think it's rather pointless, actually. While it would be very aesthetically pleasing to be able to preview the armour, it doesn't change what armour you will buy (or, at least, it shouldn't).
You should buy armour for the bonuses of each particular type and how they work with your playing style/character strategy, not how it looks. Such trivialities are why there are 15k and FOW armour sets.

I think a mini-window which will show your character "fitted" with that armor would go a long way.
I want to try it on and see how it looks, maybe even dyed. Imagine buying from a catalog with only icons representing the clothes you are buying.

Several sets of armors have the same stats but different looks.
