Competitive Storyline Missions

So, reading through the Factions manual, it mentioned "Competitive Storyline Missions" -- as in PvP missions that are required as part of the PvE plot/story. Has anyone gotten to these yet? Can you confirm that my nightmare of the game has come true?

I've been to one of those towns... The competition was to kill the most Afflicted monsters in 15minutes. There's a record holder thats holds Daily, Monthly and Best Ever scores.. When I tried it it was 250 from some Korean I think.

You get there during the storyline but I think you can actually just ignore it and it wont alter the story at all.

I don't think you need to complete those "Competitive" missions to advance through the storyline. Just follow the Primary Quests and "normal" missions if you don't feel like playing those.

and i will be doing it again just to try to best myself
but it doesnt seem to have altered the story ine

Those you speak of (Dragon's Throat, etc) are CHALLENGE missions!
Competitive Missions are the ones from FPE. Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood.
