Guild Wars Factions and EB Games
Jade
Not sure exactly where this would go now, so if it's in the wrong spot could I have a mod move it for me please. Anyways, on with the story. After all the run around that I got from EB games over Factions, I was having some pretty serious second thoughts on them. The last straw was when I called them up a week ago and their price went up to $64.99 for the regular non-CE edition. I was flabbergasted. The very next day a flyer came for Future Shop and their price was $49.99 and a free poster and you could buy City of Villans for $9.99. My relief came with some trepidation though as Future Shop and I have had some issues in the past. (mainly that unless you wanna buy something over $1000 good luck getting someone to help you out.) So I went ahead and called EB and told them about this and they said that they would price match. So I thought, cool, just wait until I ask them whether or not I get a free poster, So I go to pick it up yesterday and the girl behind the counter was getting my stuff in the bag and I was about to ask her when she said, "Oh wait a minute" and turned around, reached into the display case and brought out a GW t-shirt. "I slmost forgot to give you your free t-shirt." I thought, cool, t-shirt is way way better than some crummy poster that I might not even get (the whole "while supplies last" thing at FS has irked me forever). Well, when I took it home and opened the box up I was very happy to see some keys for 2 week free previews of not only City of Villans but City of Heroes, Auto Assault, and Lineage 2. Win - Win situation if you ask me. I'll post a pic of the shirt later. In conclusion I'd like to send some kudos out to EB for (temporarily at least) bringing themselves out of my bad books.

EB Games is a scam. They try to milk your money. I went to pre-order my game and they said i must have original (which i do) since they said its an 'expansion' but Anet has said its a standalone game. Secondly, they try to persuade you to buy a strategy guide which will become useless in a couple of weeks. Lastly, they then try to get you to buy their 1 year warranty for an extra $3.00. Oh well, they are like 3 mins away from where i live.

all those things are the same for every place that sells video games

Uh, I didn't have to tell my EBgames that other stores were 50$
I preordered, so I only had to pay 50 $(add the tax, then subtract 5$ for the preorder downpayment)
However, my friend got the last public sale copy, and had to pay 65$ lol
I'm supposing you're in Canada, b.t.w
edit- nvm. I saw the "Location" under your avatar lol

Hm. I've been disappointed with EB a lot lately, but I went in to get Factions, found out they were price matching Future Shop so I got the game $10 cheaper and got a free Factions t-shirt (dunno if I'm gonna be geeky enough to wear it in public though, lol), then went over to a CD shop in the same mall, and found a DVD season set that normally retails for $130 on sale for $85 with tax.
Then a magical unicorn gave me a ride to the land of lollypops. It was the best day ever.

My EB gave me it for 47.99 with the 5.00 downpayment... they asked me if I played WoW (just for conversation I guess, it's almost all they ever talk about there) and then asked if I wanted the Resident Evil preorder or anything else. I said no, but that I'd definetely look into buying Oblivion: The Elder Scrolls from them. I like the guys there. Nothing wrong with mine.

My EB sold it to me for AU$79.95. AU$10 off for preordering it, though I never got a preorder key. Just the game.

EB Games ftl...
I preordered my CE on march 18th, and they haven't recieved a single copy (I guess this isn't their fault), but they confused me by calling and saying it was late, then calling and saying my copy of GW:F had come in. I called them only to find out that the it was the SE and not the CE. They have no clue whatsoever when it's coming.

Not sure if you all have them or not, but I've found that Gamestop is almost always better than EB Games. Service is better, prices are better (used console games, equipment, etc.), and Gamestop always gives more money for games than EB does. I ordered Factions through Gamestop's website with the cheapest shipping available and have had zero problems in getting my pre-order stuff, and my regular factions copy will get to me before the pre-order grace period ends. Gamestop ftw.

Regarding the CE, it's not showing up in stores until the 5th or 6th of May for reserve customers. It won't be released again until June because of extrememly limited quantity because of under production. Btw, Gamestop and EB Games are the same company.
