Sorry folks but the panda isnt tameable according to the Prima Guides. Its possible that it could be added latter as part of a ranger mission.
Aboutthe phoneix...I havent been able to get a confirmation on where these bab boys are but im getting close to the mission where you figth the 4 celestrials...im thinking you might get it there.
The black moa..is like the elder spider of the Prophesies underworld..only available during a mission. One note on teh Black Moa... during beta you only got one shot at this bird. The mission is to kill it and if you take henchies with you...they WILL kill the bird before you can tame it. If you go after this baby, take live players with you whom wont attack the bird while you tame it. DONT go in alone after the bird...the aggro in the area its in must be cleared out before you get to the bird and there is no way possible you can go in alone and get it. The only other possible way is if you use henchies...clear the aggro out then get the henchies all killed off and not rezz them then go after te bird.
About the phoneix appearance, the one ingame is a traditional phoenix. They were multicolored and did resemble a cross betweena peaRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO and pheasant. They only appeared flaming when they reached the end of their life cycle-the nest set on fire and from the flames a new phoenix was born. The origin of the phoenix varies but its earliest stories can be found in early Egypt and Asia. http://www.shades-of-night.com/aviary/phoenix.html
The firey phoneix we know today is actually a misrepresentation of the true story and form.
sorry for the history lesson..im a bit of a legends and myths buff.

I think the phoenix looks fine EXCEPT for the face >.< It just looks so dull..
The original moa bird had way more spunk.
Well, I dont know about the panda being tamable, but i have seen the panda as a pet on an npc ranger... Which stands to reason that they are tamable. Also if you look throughout various areas you will see an assortment of *pets* just roaming or laying around. I don't have picts here but, there is a cat in the napuhi mission (lying there in the middle of the battle), rats in the sewers, pigeons (or some kind of bird) in viznuah square and a panda running around in....hehe

Info on Phoenix:
It's charmed in the end of game area. Once you finish the game, you're deposited into a location that you're able to hang out in. Within this area is a weapon crafter, armor crafters (15k), and eight NPCs (one for each profession) that will give you one green item of your choice (non repeatable with same character) for finishing the game. In addition there are a small number (3-5 or so) lvl 5 Phoenixes that can be charmed.
It mainly just hops around much like a Moa, except occasionally it will "float" to a different spot (as you're standing still). When it attacks, it flies to it's target - but the height never gets higher than what it can jump normally, which isn't very high, it basically looks like it's skimming along the ground. Thus, any thoughts of "z axis" changes to the game engine, well, you can forgetaboutit.
It's a very beautiful bird, I get a lot of compliments on it.

I'd estimate that on an average sized character with an average sized pet, it's about chest high. It's hard to really say, since the legs of the bird hang down quite a bit, and if it's actually flying, you're not anywhere close to it to judge.
