Wierd skill wording?

Well im trying making a build and i read Apply Poison....then Greater Conflageration. I got mad.

Apply Poison :: For 24 seconds, foes struck by your physical attacks become Poisoned for 3...13 seconds.

Greater Conflageration* :: Create a level 1...8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, all physical damage is fire damage instead. This Spirit dies after 30...126 seconds.

Well from what i can see, it seems like i cant use apply poison while GC is in the area. Is this true? Or is this just meant to make sure staff attacks dont make poison.

Apply poison works if you use an elemental string anyway. Greater Conflagration is not a problem.

Physical attack does not = physical damtype.

Any bow or axe/sword/hammer/daggers will poison the enemy when apply poison is up. Staves and wands will not poison.
