Without Sundering 20/20:
Galrath: 77.5
Sun/Moon: 78.7
With Sundering 20/20:
Galrath: 79
Sun/Moon: 84.7
Notice the dramatic improvement of Sun/Moon with sundering. One reason I suspect might be that the sundering chance is calculated for each separate attack, so you get double the chance with 2 attacks. However the min and max of Sun/Moon is spread over a bigger range compared to Galrath. I've had as low as 55 damage and as high as 104. Lastly, each subsequent Sun/Moon takes 6 hits to charge, whereas Galrath takes 7. Also Sun/Moon is guaranteed to hit at least once.
A comparison of Galrath Slash & Sun/Moon Slash

This is where different types of damage reduction come into play. Lets say you have a 60 al target with a base damage reduction of 10. It would only subtract 10 from Galrath, but would subtract an average of 20 from Sun and moon, assuming it hits both times. Now, the killer for galrath is percentage damage reduction such as protective spirit, limiting the average player to a hit anywhere between 53-44 damage in one hit. This would barely affect Sun and Moon slash at all. Analyzing your target is essential for knowing the type of attack to use, but usually works better for PvE, were opponents are predictable.
