To Arena net: How to turn the tables on Ebay

Ok Arena net I feel pity that you've made this great game but people are stealing your property and selling it to other people, Of course we know why people do this

1) to lazy to earn money
2) to god damn hard!

So the end result would be ebay or other sites, now you have no controll over this at all so you just have to let them push you around right? Wrong!

Why don't you beat the theives at their own game and be orignal at the same time!

How you may you ask? simple you do what there doing!

If you put a web link on your homepage saying "want gold now click here" and people could then choose how much they wanted from 100k up to 1000k make sure you find the most cheapest site make yours $1 or £1 below and there you have it, your making more money!

you didnt get the probrem , the probrem is not the people who gain real cash from this , the probrem is the in game money who come in the game who unbalace the economy.

But to reply to lishi I agree that it is people who unblance the ecomony thats why I have thought of this idea, perhaps i didn't explain into much detail...

Now lets start with the basics the theives who steal from arena net to sell to us, Ok why do people buy money online? what makes them so desprate for fortune on a video game that they will pay real money for virtual money?
Simple they want what they can't get the see a fellblade they think Wow wish I could offerd that so they go off farming and by a whole day they earn roughly 70k, now in order to get a decent fellblade that is actually worth getting cost round about 100k+30-50 ectos so thats all together 295-425k,

now as you can see the guy has a long way to go and farming is preety dull then finally he gets a sup abosrob which is worth 60k he sells it to some guy who scams him for a mere 60g, now if your very harsh you could say that was his own fault for not checking but (and I should know) it makes you wanna stop playing completly as it seems like to much hard work. Now what option do you have do you...

A) work for anouther week or two and finally get enough for your fellblade?
or
B) Buy 1000k and find what else you want?
or
C) screw the game play something else!

Now for all you saints out there you would pick A. but for some people would unfortuntly pick C, however if your a huge fan of the game and love it to bits you may pick B. Now you know full well that this is stealing from the game you know so well but you want that god damn fellblade so this is the way its outta be.

Now looking at some Gold sites cheapest I could find was 1000k for £25 which is not to bad considering thats about a month or two doing solid farming. The company steals Arena nets gold and sells it for £25 good for the guy who just made £25 by playing a game but not for Arena net.

NOW THIS IS WERE MY IDEA COMES INTO. If arena net thought "ok lets make our own, we'll put it on our webpage make it a resonable price insure 100% safety and good delivery" then everything will be fine. They could even transfer the money straight into your storage account as they can just make the money. There is not set ammount people! they wouldn't go "sorry out of order were out of stock" they can make it! so it doesn't affect the aconmy in the game as they can simply write it into your storage account! SIMPLE!

The only winge factor I can find is that people below 16 don't have an electron card so they can't buy stuff online, sorry junior

Anouther winge factor I can think of is its cheating and why should people work and farm then? obvious answer your £30-40 richer than them so its all about the choice of the indidual and does it make their chars 'Uber' pfft no get a green item for like 30k that does the same job and 1.5k armor and your character is as good as them. its just all down to how the individual wants to look.

I honestly think this is one of the most idiotic threads Ive seen. The second ANet did this people would buy gold. Eventually, everyones rich. Where the fun in that? If your too damn lazy to make your own gold, dont play this game. Simple as that. If you wanna buy something (fellblade, chaos axe) Try buying a not so rare skin first, then work your way up. You cant cheat your way through gaming.

If it was a buck for 100 or even 1000k through their site, any joe shmo could get anything they wanted in the game.

I think earning money in-game should be left to just that.

Without going into too much detail: this violates every game standard of every online RPG game I've ever played. Use RL money to twink your in-game character? *takes deep breaths while mumbling "I'm not going to flame; I'm not going to flame" as a mantra for several minutes*

Tien ak...I think you've missed the point of the whole Ebay issue. Anet DOESN'T want people to make a mockery of the in-game economy. They're trying to stop people from using RL/outside resources to improve their character's performance as a means to both balance this game and keep it from exploding in their faces. What you suggest does neither. It exacerbates the problem.

Think of it this way: what if people actually used this? Its suddenly legal for people to exchange Rl dollars for in-game gold. Prices of items sky rocket accordingly due to this new source of income and those who can't afford to "buy" money are left in the lurch even more so. Suddenly, to remain competitive, YOU have to "buy" gold.

It would be worse than any monthly fee any other game has EVER implemented.

Hence why you recieve lackluster replies to this idea. Its a bad idea. A VERY bad one.

New source of income? This happens anyway you think just because arena net make a site all of a sudden its going to sky rocket? don't make me laugh. While your playing guild wars their are proberly thousands of people ebaying and you wouldn't know it. This idea is designed not to Encourage people to Ebay read it next time instead of reading what you want to read.

This idea is to stop ebaying by beating their prices by a small amount, so it is still pricey but not over priced, now Why would people go for Arnea net? simple if you order off them one its safe and two its a bit cheaper than the rest, so people won't bother with other sites...but what if they lower it to much? yes that could and proberly will happen but there is only so much they can lower it to till it meets bare min both companies want one thing Profit so there for people will still go for arena net as its safer.

well you obviously haven’t looked into this have you? im sorry but like I said above this is an optional, a monthly fee is where you have to pay to keep playing, do you have ebay telling you to pay no, is the ecomny going tits up no, is it happening anyway yes and are they stealing from arena net yes. This would notbe a monthly fee as its optional and it is merely making ebaying more safe and under their control, how? No one is stealing from them and the money goes straight back to them!!!

Now im mature enough to actually admit there is one fault and that’s simply, new players may feel intimidated and feel they have to buy money to keep up. My only suggestion to tackle this is to make this web page after they improve trading eg auction house, so new player can make a good bit of gold and feel that its just there for the lazy. I admit that this is defiantly and idea not now but in the future

I thought about this too and thought about the same thing but realized that it is just not possible without severe reprecussions.
