I have gotton really far on my warrior in Cantha, and I was wondering... when the preorder-play duration time ends, will we still be able to access our players once we install the regular factions- will be be in the same spots?

This is what the 10 day grace period is about. If you install the key for Factions within that time - yes, otherwise - no, unless they change something because of the CE problem.
Be in the same spots ?
If you have a Prophecies account, you will be returned somewhere like the Battle Isles or Guild Hall, or somewhere similar, if you play your character before installing the Factions key.
Your progress made this weekend will be preserved as long as you install the Factions key within the grace period, currently 10 days.

So that would mean I have to have the "real" factions key in by Saturday May 6th, because preorder started on April 27th, correct?
