So the alliance system is up, we go to setup the alliance weve been waiting for and now we're told, sorry.... you gotta be signed up with a faction to do this. Everyone in the alliance is in Jeasearing and many days if not weeks from seeing someone from either faction.
It would be nice if you could form the alliance and then sign up to a faction later after the alliance has decided which faction to go for.
Allow alliances before choosing a faction

ITs a good idea, though there will be some problems later.
If for example there are 2 guilds in the alliance already (1 is the leader, the other the member), the leader chose to ally with the Luxon and pledged their allegiance.
The other guild then pledged allegiance to the Kurzick.
If my guess is correct, the current system was not built to handle the if-then-else statements for those cases I mentioned. Also, it will require a long well-tested flowchart of 'possible' cases before they can perfect the code for it if ever they will implement it.
Maybe, just maybe, they chose the easiest way and that's to require Guild Leaders to pledge an allegiance first.

why would you need an alliance if you are not allied with either kurzick or luxon??? alliance is only used to gain control over outposts afaik

Yet, many guilds exist that care nothing for their rank and don't GvG at all. Some people just make groups for the sake of being in a group and having the opportunity to make friends in the game
Besides, there is one other benefit to being in an alliance. . . It allows members of another guild to visit your guild hall without requiring a guild officer to pay 100g for the guest invite.
