Cantha Lottery

As a player that enjoys promoting fun and good karma within the Guild Wars community I have decided to start a lottery.

There will be 2 types of lotteries offered:

1. local hourly lottery - choosing a number between 1 and 100 (50g per ticket)

2. Canthawide Powerball - choosing 3 numbers between 1 and 100. At any time you will be able to contact me in game and buy a ticket. Drawings will be on Friday. (100g per ticket)

In order to get it started I am using my own gold reserves and starting the jackpot at 10,000g. I will take down your IGN and your #s.

This thread will be used to:
*Post dates and times that I will be doing the hourly lottery.
*Update the current jackpot amount.
*Post the winning Powerball Numbers
*Post winners names with their permission

There will be no flamming tolerated on this thread. Please give *grats to all winners. I really hope this adds another fun aspect to a game I already love!

The hourly lottery will have it's debut in the Kaineng Center at 8am Central Standard Time (I live in Texas)
I am not to sure how long it will last but jackpots will start at 1000g. I will not be posting hourly winner #s on here. I will just contact that person ingame. Good luck everyone!

Plus, The Powerball will also start at this time and the drawing will be on Friday (May 5th) at 11pm CST

I'm not flaming or anything but I'd i'm curious as to whether this is 'legal' or not in terms of the EULA. Again, i'm not having a go at you I am just wondering

This is a great idea, and i hope you recieve more support for it. If i remember i will definately be buying tickets, I may have just missed it, but i dont think you posted your IGN.

I also realise that this will mean you gain money if this becomes a big thing. I personally do not care about this and i hope others dont either, the more pople that buy tickets the more popular it will get. If it is carried out properly then i believe KurtTheBehemoth deserves the money he will make from this. An idea would be for people to post on the forum when they win, as proof that you give out winnings.

I can see this being exploited soooo easily. There will be nothing to stop the person running this lottery from giving all the money to friends of his, so they can share it.

Wouldn't this have to be in the suggestion thread to be ratified?

lol... this is worse than the casinos when GW first came out at least with some casinos your chances of winning would almost be 50/50

Wow, people that buy in to these would be those getting duped on those street cardpick games in NYC.

Lottery is a TAX for people that don't know math...

will the numbers be drawn live from a dice roll?

Also 1 in 100 is pretty bad - no offence, you should lower the number - you will get more people play.

First of all, you alone cannot do a lottery. You don't have enough room for reserves if this takes off 1 mil in gold just aint enough storage. Secondly, I don't think A-Net would have a problem with this if you went through the right channels otherwise, even if YOU are honest, there are people out there that ARE NOT, call you a scammer regardless and have your account booted.

A-net used to have gambling in the game, but they took it out... you might want to check with them before you go offering a lottery.

One more thing, ALL lottery's have pools that donate their funds (beyond the regular costs of running the lottery) to either the schools or some other charities, who will you be donating all the cash over-flow to? Fellow guilies?
