In factions, can you earn skills throught quests after the newbie island, or can you only buy them?

You have to buy them.

It's not that big a deal. You get huge amounst of XP from completing quests and missions as well as gold. You shouldn't have any problems buy as many skills as you want.

This is a much better system than what we had before.

Or after you leave the island, hitch a ride to Marketplace and sail over to Lion's Arch. All skill quests there and in the outpost beyond that are working for Canthans.

No skills for Assassin or Ritualist profession from Tyria side obviously, but atleast some skills can be acquired from Tyria for much lower fee than buying.

Buying them is better than getting them in quests....hmmmm. hell no! If I can get it for free how is buying it better? And in quests I always got a couple skills, not just 1. Come on this setup sucks and you know it.

Can you read? They are free! I've completed about 20 quests and most of them gave me gold as a reward. That gold was used to buy a dozen or so skills already. The harder quests and missions give you more gold which makes up for the increase in skill costs.

The gold with quest rewards and the low cost of skills for new Canthan characters is much better than looking for the correct person to give you whatever skill you need. And since most of the skills are available for purchase right off the bat, you can just browse through them and buy the ones you'd prefer with whatever build you may be working on/testing/etc.

Mostly those who complain about not getting skills as quest rewards are those playing their Tyrian characters. And because you have more than likely purchased many skills, the prices of the new skills you may want are all 1k. Tough it out then, you all should already have viable and useful builds anyway. Getting newer ones from Factions is a luxury on your part.

I prefer the getting gold and buying the skills I want far more than the previous "hunt and gather" method.

I love the idea. In Tyria, you could buy skills that you could get for free later as quests rewards (if you had the skill points and gold early enough). I never did that, but I would've been upset if I had paid for something I could've gotten free.

That's technically not the definition of free.

I'd rather just see free cap signets so we can go out and earn them.
