A sad tale for all those W/Mo Runners out there?
Kyosuke
From what I've noticed in Cantha, it's not a welcoming place to the common W/Mo Runner. Because of the fact many areas are only accessible by quest and/or teleporting once oyu have accessed the area, there are plenty of key places that you cannot be ran to.
While on one hand this is a good thing, on another not so good for those people who have completed the Cantha missions atleast once, but want to run through with another Char.
Thoughts on this issue?

The whole point of PvE is to play the game, factions just makes you play the game by doing quests to get around so all i can say is.....
GOOD
if you wan't to run get a sports game.

if you wan't to run get a sports game. Not necessarily true. I dont mind playing through the game with one or 2 characters, but being required to play through the entire thing for EVERY character I make is just retarded.
In my opinion, they should make the map "unlockable", so that once you take your first character through the game, additional characters on your account should be able to run anywhere, in any order they want to.

If you where to play any other game such as say metal gear solid, you can't run and skip it all because yuo have played it before.
Plannb23
So you would rather have people in places that they really shouldnt be with characters that they arent suited to playing?
Personally while I ran all my characters after the first, I say good. People would rip people off with running and now that its gone its one less scam players have to worry about.

You could use the invisible cloak thing once you had beaten it on subsequent times through, its a perk of beating hte game once and adds to replay value.
This is the developers choice however, I think more than people running through with second and third characters they didnt like people being way above where they should have been etc...
Less people will probably have all their players on their account with game beaten but there will be people actually trying to fight through missions and quests now.
For the community this is probably a good nerf

Couldn't agree more. That, or perhaps after completing the game with one character any subsequent character isn't blocked from accessing portals. That way they still have to do something to get places (be it fighting to get there, running themselves, paying a runner, or whatever).
The story line isn't diverse. It's the exact same story, with all the same main quests, missions, and objectives, no matter how many times you play it. I have absolutely no intention of playing through Factions with more than one character, from start to finish. Simply put, there's nothing in the game that makes it worthwhile to do twice. You don't have to play through the entire game with each class to learn how to play that class, or even to unlock all of the skills for that class. The only incentives to take a character through every mission is for armor skins (which aren't so great imo), some green weapons that aren't better than everything else in the game, or an oversized buzzard for a pet.
Wooha? I think not.
I'm sure it's incentive enough for some people, but for me it just comes out as a mindless, boring grind.

Stolen Souls
I kind of have mixed feelings on the whole thing.
Like people said, it will help cut back on the low levels in high-level areas. But I just shudder at the thought of having to do some of these missions/quests on every character I make.

I Love it! In fact the funnest mission I've ever done so far has been Visunah Square. I'm gonna do it some more.

Unlike tyria's square milage and almost double mission amount, cantha is pretty tight and mission lean. Also, each mission contains possible elite skill caps so even if you were to be able to get run, you'd ultimately have to go back to cap. Basically the game has been build in such a way that people actually have to play in order to earn the rewards and reap the benifit of playing a pretty well balanced game.
Antheus
There's less reason to run through Cantha, due to different design.
In Tyria, most running is done from Ascalon to Droks, to get the best armor. Best armor in Cantha is readily available from the start.
Leveling is also fast when starting in Cantha, so there is less need to run to the powerleveling spots.
The only reason to be ran through, would be to get quick access to various missions, but that really shouldn't be too much bother, since you'll need to capture the elites and other skills anyway.
I'm not really sure how much it will matter, I guess a small subset of missions will suffice to get anywhere, but running might not be that necessary.
And yes, running made it possible to level many more characters in Tyria, and give them access to what they needed. It was a good choice to allow people to skip content. You can only realistically do the same required quests so many times.

unlike tyria, cantha quests and missiosn have good rewards. Why woudl you WANT to skip most of them on a character?

There are only so many quests one person can stomach. No matter how good the rewards.

OMG... I hate factions for god damn quests GAH... I cant get into HzH because of some quests I didnt do in the very beginning of the freakin game and I have no idea which ones I am surposed to take because there is so many... God dammit I wish I could just run myself to wherever I wanted to... Anet tried to get rid of runners and they gave me a head ache by that... I didnt move a mission further in the whole day trying to find out which quests I didnt do ffs...

all you need to do is follow primary quests....

BlueXIV
Let's just say that when you finish the final boss, you can get certain reward items. Anet probably made factions unrunnable because they didn't want to farm this.

well.. sucks that you can't go exploring anymore.. i liked running around and finding new places without having to do redundant quests.. thanks for screwing up a-net.. btw, a guildie stopped playing because of the mm nerf

I am "running" now through the storyline with my tyra character. In a short of time I got pretty far. Many of the quests I skip for now, I only take the main quests lead me now to the kurzick area.
Problem with running in cantha will be the mission in viz square. I see in the local area a lot of low (<20) lvl ppl that go in with henchies only, hence they have only 1healer that screws every party up comming from tyra...
Personnally I dont have anything against runners. If you wanna play the game like that... go ahead! If you dont like the lvl 3's in Ember... dont play with them... I think in Cantha the reason is that everything is pretty close together so you would run through the come in no time

Well, i dont mind the new system. As said be4 the running was mainly used to get the max armour and elites soon and/or to get power leveled. Well u dont really need power leveling here, because quests give tonns of xp so level very fast and You have access to max def armours soon. Same situation with elites. If You get to the mainland You can find elites everywhere.
Questing? Maybe its just me, but i think this is what the game's pve part is all about. And if You want to rush and You only follow the primary missions, You can go fast either and can get nice elites on the way. Not to mention lots of rare craftmats dropped in the process!
+xp + faction etc.
Someone mentioned playing the game with 3rd, 4th chars. Ok i can understand Your point here, but think about that a little: You have to play through the game a few times to be able to say that You know most of what You have to do and where things r located and stuff. Of course ppl will know quite some things after the first playthrough, but You can never know what You find during the next 1
. Also if You rush all Your characters through the game fast then what? Go back and cap elites and do the missed coops? But if You do that, wouldnt it be much simpler if You have done them on the way? And as the last thought: In tyria the meaning of "finished the game" for lots of people is to beat Hell's, but they forget, that they skipped the most of the game as they runned to droks then done the rest with guild...
So in Chanta You'll have to work to be able to say You beat the game and i think its good.
Anyway just my 2 cents ^^
p.s.: Sorry for my bad english ^^

You know, since my early days in Prophecies, I've noticed people being wholy unable to figure out that the Primary Quests lead to the next mission area or where ever they are supposed to go next. Somehow, I'm not surprised that people can't figure that out now.
Read and follow the primary quests, and forget the rest of it. The primary quests are the only ones you need to do. Just like ALWAYS.

In a way i can understand Anets thinking on this kind of " No running policy" they have for factions and heres my opinion..
Their intention was for new players and old to PLAY the game for a change as Factions has a significantly shorter storyline than Prophecies. ( Faction only has 13 main storyline quests where Prophecies has 25.) So going through the whole thing again on a 2nd or even 3rd char shouldn't be too much of a struggle for old players. Agreed it may seem a bit of a tediuos task going through it again with your next char but it's a fairly easy storyline to get through.
You have to bear in mind there are New players out there who are just getting to understand the game, just because some hardcore Prophecies players have done it once should we spoil it for the new guy? of course not and running in Cantha will spoil their experience..
On a side note Factions has also increased the runners potential in Tyria as ppl bring their char over from Cantha. I personally have done several LA to desert runs for Cantha "Born" char. So Runners lose out in one way and gain in another. So yet again it all balances out....
Ne way thats my theory on it </rant>

So, you create a new character and then purchase the services of runners to run you to the end of the game. Why are you creating a new character if you aren't going to play the game? What exactly are you going to do with this new character?

i'm loving this runner nerf...lol
factions is short anyway..while doing all primary quests AND side quests (except for ones on kurzick) it only took me a day and half to finish the whole game (with henchies too for about 97% of the time..)
i'm loving most of the nerfs that came with factions..made the game more challenging, so i'm having more fun..unlike tyria where i constantly fall asleep during missions like THK and hell's...(like fall asleep for real -_-)

While it is true that you can run to Kaineng Center without sustaining any damage cause I did it alone, it is bad for those who profited from running to any mission. I'm glad that it happend because there were a lot of scammers running of with almost 6k per run to Droks.
What I've noticed is that they OBVIOUSLY wanted everyone to Level Up quickly cause the game is *in my opinion* hard. The Vizunah Square Mission(Local Quarter) I did it with just three human players...rest henchies and it was very easy going. While I tried it a couple times with full ppl team and got killed plenty of times and got tired of that. It was very hard trying to get into a party that didn't have at least 5 assasins in the group. Gets me mad playing around with 5 assasins and most of them not knowing how to play with them. Gets our entire party beaten. My char is an E/A and in one of the missions there was a person amazed that there was an Ele in the group.
* Don't get me wrong...assasins are excellent as long as you know how to play with them. But everyone is focusing on playing with assasins and ritualist and are forgetting about the other professions. it is making some players to find a very balanced team for missions*

I used to do runs alot, I have done the Beacon's Perch -> Droknar's Forge run over 500 times, and I've taught people, but some people just couldn't even get the hang of it because they were run everywhere and they don't ever learn how to do it themselves! I like this idea of no running, but, running isn't so bad, if you actually play the game. I just don't like doing it over and over with a different character just to get to armor so I don't die so fast that I look like I suck. I am one of the people that does missions like THK with henchies, and I can't stand when people start calling people noobs. The people that say that word the most... usually have like 5 accounts, have been run everywhere, have only 15k armor dyed... pink... and are jealous of the fact that you can play the game without crying about dying because of the "Stupid" monk! They are backless flipfloppers... they will take this side that running being gone... is a good thing, because they know... why fight it? But on the inside they are crying for help because they are level 3 at the forge and noone will powerlevel them because the runners and powerlevelers are all playing factions. I myself have been run but, I did the game with my Warrior first and got him all the way everywhere before I got any of the others run. I'm sorry this is so long... and most of it is just pointless, but I hope you see my point in this... DON'T CRY ABOUT LOSING WHEN YOU NEVER PLAYED IT YOURSELF ANYWAY!
Tromador
I came into the running scene late, having only recently purchased the game, in fact I came into the running scene just in time to see it completely overrun with people trying to make a quick buck running whatever. I've not been to Beacons in a while but even Droks was down to 1.5k last I looked and I don't care what anyone says, the Droks run is hard to master (and at those prices, I'll just run my guildies who don't care if it takes me a couple of attempts y'know?). So anyway, the point of this paragraph is that running now sucks and there's any number of easier ways to make money these days.
In some ways I can see that removing the possibility of a run is something of a pain. I've decided my new ranger needs a blue reef lurker as a pet, which means I'll have to do all the missions over to get him to the Jade Sea where they live. Then again, what else would I have done with him, but do the missions/quests. I can say I have a character who has skipped most of Tyria, which I use to help out Guildies on their missions. Now and again it's one I've not done, which is a bonus, but I don't *need* it, as I've done the "necessary" to max out the character.
Meh.. it's pure psychology. We are used to having runners and being able to skip, we are used to being able to be runners and make a few gp. Like most users, our perception of change is "this is bad". If running had never been possible... we would not miss it now.

When I've done the game once Im kinda sick I now have to do the game another 7 times with my other characters. Either allow running or even better give us the option to unlock the game for the other characters on my account once I have completed the game.

You can't be serious? Please someone tell me this is a joke.
For starters, learn how to read. That would be the most appropriate thing. A few people mentioned this before but Ill mention it again incase it wasn't clear. ALL you need to do is the primary quest line. Every other quest is optional. Why is this such a big deal? Because you ACTUALLY have to play the game?!? OMG, this game is stupid. I can't just pay a runner to bring me where ever I want. Seriously go find another game..... your argument makes no sense what so ever.
Apart from that, you could still run certain places, and when you go across the sea (to LA) theres plenty of opportunity for runners. I think the way they did factions is awesome. Now when you get to the end of the game, you can assume the person at least knows a little bit about their class. No more lvl 12's at Droks. I really don't see what you are complaining about. Its disguisting that people are crying because they can't run to where ever they want to go. For those who want to explore, do the mission (theres only like 10 of them) and you have basically everything unlocked. You can explore to your hearts content. As someone mentioned here before, you can't just skips levels in other games whenever you feel like it, why should this be any different? If you want a game that you can skip "missions" or "instances" go buy WoW

Sorry my edit button isn't working so Im re-posting.
I have no problems with runners... if someone wants to run, thats fine and personally I have absolutely nothing against runner. I do have a problem with people coming on these forums crying a river because they cannot run through the entire game at level 15 and don't want to do the missions. As I said, if you want to run, fine... thats your choice. But don't complain that a very well done game is garbage just because you cannot run through the entire thing and are forced to do SOME of the missions on the major story line.
I have no problems with runners... if someone wants to run, thats fine and personally I have absolutely nothing against runner. I do have a problem with people coming on these forums crying a river because they cannot run through the entire game at level 15 and don't want to do the missions. There are a couple reasons why this was done in the past:
PvE characters can have an advantage in PvP since you can change armor sets on the fly.
You could be working to build a specific character to farm some high level area more effectively than another character to save time.
