CE Worst Case Scenario: 10 days, and CE hasn't arrived
Coolniceronguy
Shortly after the pre-order came out, I went out and picked it up and put down the full purchase price for the CE.
Now that there are issues with CE's punctual delivery, will the Factions character that I have created be deleted, if worst case scenario, 10 days has passed and my CE that I have paided for has not arrived.
While I can understand, and accept, if a character were to become inaccessible until the Factions key has been entered, for my character to be deleted to no fault of my own, is a bit harsh.
If there are continuing issues with arrival times of the CE, will ANet extend the grace period?

They definetly should. It seems very unfair that this can happen.

No they wont

Ten-Day Grace Period Explained 1 May 2006 The grace period mentioned in an earlier news post will end at 11:59 p.m. PDT on May 8. During the 10-day grace period, if you have a Prophecies account and have added a Factions pre-order key, you can create a 5th or 6th character. After the 10-day grace period, if you have not added a Factions (retail) key to your account, you will not be able to create a 5th or 6th character. We will not delete your new characters, items, or skill unlocks after the 10-day grace period. However, you will need to add a Factions (retail) key to your account in order to play with any Canthan characters after the end of the Extended Head Start Event. |

But, oh well, just venting.

i pre ordered mine from EB Games. As of today May 1 2006 they still have not recieved ANY shipment of factions in. Told me to just keep checking. I would be really mad to be unable to play the game because of shipment issues to the stores. I'm glad the 10 day limit is in, but I hope they will extend it if needed.

I was told the CE would show up at EB on Friday here in my Canadian city, but sadly for some reason, my pre-order key has expired and I can't play my Cantha characters. I think the math for the "10 days" started when I entered the key, not when the Head Start began.

That doesn't make sense, their main site says May 8th.
Deceived!

Seems your worst case, isn't the worst case..
I preordered CE in .au - have been playing on the preorder key.. EB advises stock expected this Friday (5th). Local time is 5:30pm, Tuesday, May 2nd .. and I just finished a mission to be greeted with a code 165 'do not have access'
![Mad](../Img/mad.gif)
*edit - seems I'm not alone :S

Forsythe - They extended the period that ppl with pre-order key's could access the game. Originally it was meant to only last the 24 hours before the game went live. However they changed it so that pre-order key's gave access to the end of the 1st - a 3 day extended head start.
The 10 day period comes to an end on 8th of May.

.... if someone adds a preorder key *now* - they'll be able to play for three days
How this corrects Anet's inability to supply on order in a timely manner eludes me. Net effect - no access to factions until the (late) stock arrives, starting this evening local time. Compensation? Nil. Unhappy customer? You bet.

As much as people want to blame Anet for not having enough CE versions, how much of the blame should go the the stores? They're the ones selling preorder CE's without a clue of how many they would actually get.
Gnuz Tokomi
Anet's undersupply isn't the issue. Their disabling our preorder keys before the game is available *at all* is. By that logic, in Australia, *no* preorder packs should have been sold. Why were *those* shipped?
Forsythe
The preorder pack is not exclusive to the normal or CE version of Factions.
However, look here for explanation.

The headstart was exteneded by 3 days of play...
The "grace Period" for making new characters si what was extended to 10 days as far as I understand it, so you shouldn't be able to play with your characters, but you can make them....:S

Can I re-enter my key and get acess again till may 8th? Will the Question i sent to Anet about this actualy get answered in a manner that makes any sense?
:edit: just read the post before mine. must have missed it..... now that my friend makes no sense, you can create.. but not play... what purpose does that serve exactly? after you create an RP toon doewsn't it automaticaly take you into game? but thats not the point, the point is... thats skitchy... come on anet, it's not our fault there aren't enough games to go around and our stores are giving us the run around... this this just isnt right.......

Well, thanks for the extension, ANet.
I should say that, instead of simply focusing on the negative.
But in a situation where pre-ordering a product is possible(and playing), one would think a company would make certain supply far exceeds demand.
One would hope that a situation like the one we are in right now can be avoided in future releases.

You cannot create or play.
I have a Rit that is still in the monestary and as of this morning, I cannot access her. It gives me a message that my account is not authorized to play factions.
As for my old Tyria characters, I had my mesmer in House Zu Heltzer as of last night and when I started this morning it ported me to Ascalon and I have no option to travel to Cantha from the boat.
As I stand, unless I get my CE soon, then I'm just stuck in Tyria which is not very nice since I really need to play in Cantha but I do not want to get the regular edition.
I was in EB yesterday (Canada) and they told me that they might get it today or tomorrow but I wont believe it until I have the box in my hands.
Anet should have an option that if you can show a prof of purchase then they issue a key for you to be able to play.
They said that aditional CEs would ship June 30th then that key should stay active untill early July.
I'm hooked on GW and will play it does not matter what but this situation might turn off other players and they would stop playing.
My 2 cents.

I'm still waiting for mine aswell, a guildie of mine's (who ordered from the same place) order status claims that they're currently packaging it so it can be sent. Mine is still "under handling", and I ordered mine before he ordered his... Since it's not 7:13 pm in Sweden, I doubt I'll recieve mine tomorrow while all my guildies will. >=(
But I guess I'm venting aswell. Either way, stop blaming ANet. It wasn't their fault, neither was it the stores' fault. It has been stated that it was due to an error at the distributor (NCSoft). Blame them.

Just as an extra note, you shouldn't have to worry about your chars until 8th May; Headstart was 27th april, release day was 28th, so your 10 days of 'safety' aren't over yet, its just the grace playing period thats up
