Disparity between Europe and North America

When looking through contents of both Prophecies and Factions:

North America lacks :

-Double-sided poster: Ritualist and Assassin (standard edition Factions)
-Cloth Picture (Factions Collector's Edition)

Europe lacks:
-Teamspeak installation (Prophecies Collector's edition)

What is the reason for the disparity? Also why is European manual split up into two books?

And why is there no North American Special Edition? What's in The Art of Guild Wars Book 2?

The simplest answer is that NCsoft is not actually a single global company. Each territory (Europe, Korea, America etc) is a separate (but related) company, and each company makes its own decisions. These decisions are, of course, influenced by local factors.

So, for example, the Special Edition was an initiative of the Europe office based on European factors. Some of these boxes were made available outside Europe as well, though they've probably sold out by now.

Two books? My copy only has one manual (Factions CE, Prophecies 'normal' and Prophecies SE) all bought in England... curious where you've heard about two books...

You poor, poor soul. Never had a fortune cookie...

Basically, they're these cheap little cookies with meaningless/esoteric advice in them. Chinese-themed, and for that matter most east Asian-themed restaurants, usually give you one after your meal.

To add to that, I believe that NCSoft is actually a Korean based/originated company, but I could be mistaken. Certainly we can expect each branch to make independant decisions on how to best market the game - that process goes on everywhere, and not just in the gaming world. However, it would also be nice if special in game items and things like that were also made available throughout the entire world. I do know that many MMO's in Korea already offer extras for real world cash, and that system has become normal and expected there.

With the implementation of selling extra character slots on the horizon, I think it would be nice to offer the same thing for getting all those extra extras that are available to different GW player bases. This would work even better, because I really don't want to have to pay full price for 10 copies of Prophecies just to be able to get all the extra items. I still would like to add the Chimeric Prism for my characters. Surely if this system works in Korea, it will be beneficial to the rest of the global GW community.
