Major Lag

Recently ive been haveing a lot of lag when i encounter the first Group of Enemies when i come out of a town. When i get into they're argo range lag will hit me like a ton of bricks. Sometimes only getting 1 Frame Rate every 3 seconds.
After about 10 seconds of un-playable lag it will slowly start to come back to normal. I know my internet connection is fine. Is it my Computer taking a crap on me? Or is it something else?

well if you know its not your internet it must be your computer.

whats the basic specs of your comp?

I've gotten that too. It's more of a performance and framerate lag, not internet connectivity. I'm sure it's just some early stuff A-net will work out soon. My computer is fine for a game like this, I know that. Sometimes a game's programming will be kinda off until it's fixed, even if it's designed for specs that your computer exceeds.

I too am getting lag on the very first battle after leaving towns/outposts in Cantha. I'm pretty sure, however, that it's because GW is reading ton's of things from the hard drive during this initial battle; after which, it seems fine until I exit the next town/outpost and engage in battle.

So in my case, it's definitely disk lag. This may be a coincidence but I started noticing this only after I ran the -image parameter. Naturally I defragged after that but it's still happening.

i'm getting this also ...strangly enough it does'nt happen when i'm alone ..but if i'm in a PUG, Guild Group or with henchies ....BAM ...no fps for you !

i have exact same lagg issue as OP, first group, it just crawls, then it's pretty much fine after that.

I thought it was just a case of programming in the game, but now I'm not totally sure. According to GW Wiki, it can be either the computer or internet connection that causes lag in the gameplay. I turned down my display settings but that doesn't really do much if anything. Could be a busy server from Arenanet's side.

It's on and off, at least the lag I'm getting. Last night when I went back to Abaddon's Mouth where I got terrible lag, there was just about none. Same with one of the challenge missions in Cantha. Fortunately there are LOTS of things to do in the game so if you're getting lag in only some areas, you can try them again later while doing other things.
