Song and stone quest
mrcake
so... i have been trying to do this quest which says defend the stone song singer from the luxons.. well i go to the markers on the map and sure enough there they are but no luxons, the map dings to the next location so off i run, same story at the next marker.. so i go to next one... and so on.. i occasionally run into some luxons but not by the stone singers but i kill them anyway.
But as i am doing this the count of singers left keeps going down until i fail as there is less then 5 left... can someone point out where im going wrong on this one or is it bugged?

I have the very same problem.
After going to the first 4 stars on the map i havnt seen any Luxon and still have 8 of 8 stone singers left,However when i move back to get to the 5ft star, stone singers start dieing, usualy on the way back between the 2nd singer and the 3 spot (group of 3) by the time i get to the 5ft point to many have die'd all ready and cant complete it any more.
Does any know if thes Luxon's have a static spawn point? is it better to do the stars in an other order then shown? when they start spawning, do they spawn on the same places?
ive been doing this quest 8 times now, starts to get annoying.

i went in, straight, inner left, to the right, around in a big loop, back to the right again, over to the left of starting position, into a temple and it said done.
easy quest ye just gotta backtrack and step in odd positions to get them to spawn.

the first marker on my map dosent even have a stone singer there????
the second point if i walk in holding ctrl key it shows there is luxons up a head but they disapear, they only appear at that point when i am back tracking to get to the 5th spot but by then it is to late and to many are dead.

i tried doing the quest backwards going to the last marker i can never reach, and sure enough there was a load of luxons there but they killed the singer before i had time to get to them.
And every other singer i went to after that had luxons there but i was never quick enough to get there before they would kill the singers even running past all other enemies to save time still they died.

Interesting, it seems my was bugged, because I ran to the points and was nowhere luxons, I finished it and it still said "8 of 8 group remaining", I only needed to kill some mobs in the way. Best quest ever
EDIT: Perhaps it worked this way, because i took the other quest that related to Arborstone, what is to kill the 8 group of wardens.

From where you start out, you head pretty much straight north for a while. At the point where you make a hard right, (if following the map markers), this is the spot you will need to back track to after following map markers. I've done it a few times with multiple groups successfully; have always ended up with 5 alive at the end, fwiw.

If anyone is still having trouble with this quest, I found that the easiest way to do it is to go to the last 2 markers first, the one in the center of the cathedral and the one in the back in the pool of water. Then backtrack and go up. Unfortuantely you don't see the markers for the last ones, so you just have to go there and make sure the arrow on the minimap flashes so you know you got the spot.
Here's a map of what I did:
went on the red path first, then the blue, then the yellow. The green dots are approximately where the stone singers were (some towards the top are a little bit off I'm sure)

I did the complete circle... starting right then circling left. The luxon's spawned, and then disappeared. I kept pressing ctrl/alt to see where they were, and they actually spawned as non hostile NPC's, then just straight up vanished. I completed the quest (got reward and everything) didn't have any problems with the singers getting capped.
I also had the Wardens quest active....and this seemed to affect both quests as the wardens one was buggy as well.

I had Wardens active at the same time too. I went to the first location on the right and didn't see a stone singer. I went around in order and never saw any luxons. As I was near the top of the map one or two of the stone singers died somewhere else, but I never saw the luxons doing it.
I thought I must be on some kind of hidden timer, so I tried to pick up the pace, but none of the other stone singers died.

I've had the exact same issues, me and my friends. 20+ times through, using every angle and running. All died - failed.
I submitted a bug report as sometimes the Luxons appear as non-hostiles too. lol
A-Net, ya gotta fix this so that it follows NORMAL mission style:
1) You approach a waypoint and the enemy appears THERE.
2) Not 1/2 way around the map.

I did this quest the first time just following the stars, looking out for luxons by holding down control. I had the same problem seeing them spawn and then vanish. I failed the first time thru because the singers randomly started dying. So, here's what I did the second time: I followed the stars and everytime I saw the luxons spawn and then vanish, I went to where they were and then went AFK. Eventually, the Luxons "unvanished". My henchmen killed all the Luxons for me. Then when I came back from being AFK, I picked up all the loot left for me and moved on to the next stone singer. Then I went AFK again and started the process over again. It took me about 4 hours to complete that quest, but not a single stone singer died the second time thru. PITA quest.

I did this quest "accidentally" as I was working on another one. I passed by singers and took out luxons while on my way to somewhere else. By the time I'd finished the quest I wanted, I had two groups of singers left to visit. When singers died, it was because I passed near them without saving them because I was focused on the other quest. Still managed to save 5 of 8 and complete the quest, though. So it wasn't bugged for me, but I did the stars out of order.

I seem to have lucked out on this mission. I head out, get to the first singer... No luxons.. "interesting!" i think, and continue, I get to 4 more, and only saw luxons at one of the singers. However, they were just sitting there, not moving, so i ignored them. "What an easy quest" i think to myself. Get to the sixth one, and suddenly see a singer somewhere above me go, "HELP ME!". I think, who needs him, so he dies. I then continue on to the final singers, having not had to kill a single luxon. Quest complete, i'm happy.

The quest is a bit buggy. However, it is fairly easy. Once you get to the star, wait for the Luxons to show, kill them, and move on to the next. It is bugged in the fact that it points to the next star before the Luxons show. So you leave, they show up and kill the singer - or not - that may also be bugged.

I did the quest in the right order, and didnt see any Singers getting attacked.

you dont see the singers but the quest does update..
anyways, thx for the map. It really helped me, only 2 of 8 got killed of which one was the very last one.. only saw luxons at that guy..

I was doing another quest when I was in this area, so I wasn't really paying attention to the singers at first. But, I noticed something when I was walking back along the original line I had followed. The Luxon raiders appear (and I mean appear) in places you've already been to. I think it's time based or seriously glitched, but the Luxon don't show up until later on.
It may be an idea for a small fast group to map out the points and update the quest quickly while the larger force stays back and hunts the Luxons.
If you follow Artisan's map in the order he's specified, the Luxon appear in force between points 4 and 5, some on the bridge, others very close to point 5 where there are 3 singers. I failed this mission mostly because of that, but I think I'll be better prepared for it in the future.
