I was wondering if ranger defensive powers like escape and whirling defense protect against spells. Even as I ask this question I feel the answer is no, but would just like to confirm. So are these defensive powers only effective against warriors and rangers?

Also, does the blind (throw dirt) condition have any effect on spell casters like elementals, necro, mesemers, etc?

You're right, these defensive powers are only useful against W, R and A when they use their weapons.

WD is meant for physical attacks only like swords, axes, daggers, arrows...

not spells.. so you are right in assuming such.

The only thing I know of right now that protects you against spells is obsidian flesh. But that's an ele skill and it makes you 50% slower lol.
Also, blind does not effect magic casters. They always hit unless you evade them with the skills you listed.

EDIT:
I'm assuming what you mean by spells is like banish and not like Stone Daggers.

Whirling Defense doesn't stop Stone Daggers either.

Block, evade, and blindness only affect attacks made with weapons. That's axes, swords, hammers, daggers, bows, wands, and staves. They don't do anything to spells of any kind, traps, touch skills, or any other form of offense.

(Actually, I'm not totally certain whether ritualist spirit "attacks" can be blocked/evaded, but I'd be surprised if they can.)
