It is possible. But I believe if you want as/rit in your name, you must start out as a Cantha character.

The two new professions have to start in Cantha - they cannot start in Prophecies pre-searing. These characters are able to transport to Lions Arch and have access to Prophecies except for quests and missions before Lion's Arch. Skill quests available after LA are available, however, no Assassin or Ritualist skills can be obtained in Tyria, so a A/Mo, for example, would only recieve the Monk skill reward.

To restate some of the above, the Northern Wall, Fort Ranik, Nolani, etc, up to LA CANNOT be done by Assassins / Ritualists.

I believe the above content restrictions apply to all Canthan natives, not just Assassins and Ritualists, but I can't say first hand.

Actually, if you start in pre-searing, create a Monk / Necro, for example, then proceed to LA, where you can go to Cantha. You can change your secondary to Assassin or Ritualist, or any of the others. Then, you should be able to do all content of Prophecies, with x/A or x/Ri. However, you would then be excluded from much of the content on the Canthan starter island. Depends what you want.

By saying "In your name" I simply mean your proffesion.

Sorry if I got you confused.

A little suggestion to you:

I would suggest making a Monk. There seems to be quite a big shortage of Monks in factions, as most people are playing assasins/ritualists.

If you play as a monk, I almost guarantee you will get a one way ticket into a party

never played a monk... and for good reason :P

not that i suck at it.. maybe i would be even half decent, but i really dont enjoy keeping others alive like that i know 99% of the people got a rt or sin atm, but im just going to make one to try it out, and just to have the skills ready to play around with later in pvp....

now all i have to do is find a guild who wants to adopt a noob like me

Ok. Whatever suits you best

I'm not saying assasins or ritualists are bad... they are really fun to play. But i'm saying theres so many about and so little of the other proffesions. I'm just telling you, it might be a little hard- later on to get into a group, as theres other assasins looking to get into groups aswell.

Also, best of luck finding a guild

i dont mind not having groups

im playing my w/mo and ne/me mostly atm. the sin would probebly only try for 1 minute to get in a party then im going for henchmen, because in the end im just trying to get some skills and see how the class plays, so i dont care if i die, and that works better with henchies who dont get annoyed

Is there a way to profession change CH1 characters to X/As or Rt?

Get to Senji's Corner in Factions. There is a profession changer there. It's after the second mission, not including the 2 on the training island.
